ATI 5870

Any thoughts on how big of a power supply the next gen of cards from ATI and Nvidia will need, and how soon will those two be releasing those cards?

Any additional specs info for both would be nice if someones got them.

Well you can take a look here click but that's educated guesses, as for power supply I have a 750Watt that will be able to handle any single card upgrade in the near future. I'm thinking of using my IGP until the summer and getting one of those beasts, as I'm not playing any MMORPGs right now and can get by on it.

Although my rig won't be running until the begining of next month or late this month at the earliest. I'll buy a GPU when I need it or when an affordable 5870 is available, whichever comes first.

I'll probably get a 4770 first then a 5870 when it's released and is at an affordable price.

Its going to be released at a smaller die size making it consume less power, but it will come with alot more transistors.  So I would say it will require about 500w~550w tops.  ATI has been tough on fitting power envelopes since the HD3xxx series.

The rumors on specs is that it will be capable of 1.5 gigaflops of processing power, come with a 512-bit bus, and GDDR5 ram at 512 MB and 1 GB.  They also expect turnaround to a 5870X2 to be short.

Seeing those numbers makes me really want to get a 5870 X2 right now!!!!!!!  If the 5870 has those specs it should equal a 4870 X2's performance with less heat and power consumption!

It won't be equal in power, it will be 50% more powerful.  Like I said they reduced size and in its place put more transistors.

I have heard rumors that the 5870 will have 2.16 Gflops and 5870 X2 will have 4.456 Gflops processing power.
