Would like to check it out but not at the cost of any money, they got thier fair share already during my pay-to-betatest time with the game. So is there anyway to reactivate an account and check out the game for a breif period?
What are the cheapest alternatives otherwise, game time card?

im sure asking funcom this question wouldnt hurt.
you can always hop on a free account to see exactly what has changed.
aside from that though, im fairly certain that paying to play a beta, that was extremely hyped up, was a risk solely on your part.
im starting to see, based on how quickly you progress in this game, that people who play way too much, would burn though 80 levels extremely quick. perhaps this game is better played a few hours a day.
i cant speak about endgame content, as im not even close to it yet, but i have heard in game that endgame is somewhat lacking, not sure about how the next patch will really address it, but its not here yet so you may want to wait and see how that goes.
But from someone who avoided, as with most games, early releases and pay to beta test, jumping into AoC leaves me wondering exactly how this game is as terrible as i heard it was. was it just that people got to 80 in 3 days then flipped out over having nothing to do?
Your post sounded like theres still some anger over the release, rightly so perhaps. I would wait and see what the next patch does, also mabey you could state exactly what your looking for, and mabey someone can fill you in on whats changed.
For me, this game was meant to be a quick trial to test my new rig, and wait for spellborn to finish releasing content. To my surprise the games a lot better than i was to believe and it may keep me from going back to tcos.
Just do the trial and see if you like the changes to the game before you re-activate an older account.
Failcom wont let you reactive your old account and get a free trial. They know their game sucks. You get their message.
All they like is to lure newbies into the game to play the first tortage levels. GG and enjoy a long life in denial if you try AoC
