Possible playing, have a few questions

Noir'Noir' Member Posts: 9

Hi, im just curious to see if FFXI is worth getting right now because of the recent news about the new FFXI-II coming out at E3 this year. I was planning on buying it on my 360, so i had a few questions to see is the game still pretty easy to use if used on the 360. Also how is the community exactly is it pretty easy to get help and party. I have never played FFXI before and I've always wanted to play a console MMORPG, that I could just pick up and play and just have fun with.

Thanks

You can play on either your 360 or laptop; I doubt you will have any problems. One thing you have to think of with the 360 is how much space your HDD has on the 360. This game will reserve about 7-8 GB.

I don't usually have problems with parties. Once in a while I'll get caught lfp all day, but they are few, far between, and i'm usually doing other things while waiting for party anyway. Some people come on and say it is really bad others say it is really easy. I have been leveling mules with no subjobs and crappy equipment and they are even getting parties so I don't assume it is bad anywhere.

And I would just have to suggest you err on the side of caution about "FFXI-II." There has been rumors of that game -- more commonly known by the moniker Rapture -- being at 3G for the past 2-3 years. Also remember we are dealing with Square-Enix which means if something is demoed at E3 you are still watiing 3-4 years before it is able to play.

Well its a toss up to be honest.  They are suppose to reveal what the new MMO is during this years E3.  They have been working on the game for some time unfortunately SE takes a bit longer in the development cycle in their games than a lot of other companies.  IMO the other MMO still is a ways off.  We will get some pics maybe a short trailer but I wouldnt think much more (Although I HOPE I am wrong)  I would suggest maybe taking the trial for a run its a free 14 days and that way you could get a feel for the game before you actually purchase anything.  I have played a few MMO's and I think that the FFXI community is a very strong point for the game.  The game has went through some changes to make it more newbie friendly such as some started quests and such.  I dont know what your experience is with MMO's but FFXI has a very unique feel to it.  Kind of a good mix between say EQ (Hardcore) to WoW (user friendly) IMO of course.  The is a party based game but with level sync it has become much easier to get things done. The 360 version is easy to use you will need to pick up a usb keyboard though for communication.  Also if your computer is older then you may go with the 360 version.  If your PC isnt capable of bumping the graphics up with the reg tweak then that is something to think about.  I prefer the PC but thats all just user preference.  Most people have it for both because you can switch back and forth depending on the situation.  Here is a link to the PC requirements to play.

Well this game was originally for the Playstation 2 so the PC version seems a little off i would only suggest the 360 if you don't have a USB Controller for your PC. SE said from the start their new MMO has nothing to do with Final Fantasy I seen the vid it does look like it somewhat but then again i don't think the new SE game will be out for another couple years which you can get a good amount of stuff done in FFXI.
