ATI has just released the first 40nm card, the HD 4770 and rather than being a high end beast that not only devours lag but also your bank balance it's a budget mid range mini beast! Retailing at £79 in the UK on Amazon and performing on a par with the 4850 (sometimes better), I'm considering crossfiring two of these cards depending on the price of a 5870.
Since two 4770s are cheaper than one 4890 and out performs one and the 4770 is an excellent overclocker I'm very tempted. Also if I do crossfire and later want a 5870 I could stick these cards in other rigs, but at this price with this performance during these tough economic times the 4770 looks to be an excellent option.
Disscuss, Nvidia fanbois are welcome!
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"
