Best class for healing, leveling time and EGC.

KujoxKujox Member UncommonPosts: 44

I've played wow for almost 4 years and I've never had a hybrid spec class that i've tooken serious only pure DPS classes. I really like LoTRO and I am tired of playing melee dps classes; so far and I started playing a minstrel, I did some research on what the best healing class is and it varies a lot between RK and Minstrel. I would like a perspective geared more toward end game content and opinions from experiences players who have played the class themselves.

I also would like to know peoples personal time to level to 60, which I think is the level cap. How easy/boring/toomuchgrinding or whatever and your opinion on the leveling system; just a good esimate would be find.

I've also been raiding in WoW since PREBC in every content patch, you could say I was a hardcore raider. I want to know how big of difference end game is in LoTRO and how it compares, is the high end game content worth it?

Thanks

I would say, if you really have a raiding mindset, LOTRO is probably not for you. The best content is spread across all the levels, from 1-60. You can start doing 6 man instances from around lvl 20 (Great Barrow), and you will constantly meet smaller 6-man zones, but LOTRo is a LOT more about stories in the game, and is much focused on solo content. Yes, there are raids at level 60, but few and not huge ones.

Still, it is the most popular game even on this site, and probably the only P2P MMO from the last 2 years, which is steadily growing, and is a success. It is not by mistake.

It usually takes me 2.5 months to get from 0-60, but i already know most of the content. I would say for someone new it could take about 3 to 3.5 months to get to cap. But don't rush it... half the fun of the game is in the leveling story. Even if it takes sometime to get a group try to do the epic book quests on-level, most are pretty challenging and the story is one of the best i've seen.

About a healing class it depends. You have probably 3 healing classes and all are good soloers. If you want survivability try the captain: Uses heavy armour, has a pet that can be later swapped by a banner, has a ton of staying alive skills... it only lacks a decent self.heal and some AoE's but its very hard to take down. On the other hand theres the games main group healer, the minstrel: Starts of slow but can be a force to be reckoned with.. has a stance called war-speech that reduces healing to 20% but unlocks a ton of battle skills... stances can be switched on the fly (almost). Then you have the Rune-Keeper: A hot/dot based class... can be a main healer or main dps but not both at the same time.. it takes sometime to switch from healing to dps but it is a very interesting class.. very squishy.. i wouldnt recomend it unless you are used to kiting.

For a hardcore player it will take much less than 3 months to get to the cap

Leveling has been really, really slow for me. I started in July 2008 and am 43rd. Admittedly, I only have about 275 hours into it, though. There's just a big lack of solo quests in spots (maybe not so much a lack, but many are hidden by long quest chains and I get stuck on one), and solo quests don't give much experience, so basically I have to grind (which I don't enjoy)

That said, there's no real reason to hurry to the level cap, because from what I've read, there's no real end game content.

    Here's a typical thread

    http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=267210

Turbine fanboys try to claim there's no such thing as "end game" content, because the game isn't actually at the end yet. Being deliberately dense to the generally accepted definition, of content for people at the level cap.

Leveling isnt that hard, if you can find a good kin, or have the gold to purchase your upgrades  to armor and weapons when available. If you play 2 to 3 hours a day you can easily gain 1 - 3 levels if you know where you are going.

Like someone else said though, its all about the story line and the Book quests that keep it fun.

Dont know too much about the healing classes as I havent played them, but the solo aspect is easy.
