Damn, I really wanted this game to succeed, I think a lot of us wanted this game to succeed but it is getting harder and harder to support it with statements like this in the thread:
“I too was there at that party and it sure was fun to watch. Everyone does this and i dont consider it as failing the game. Darkfall still remains to be the best mmorpg avaible for me.”
This tells me such actions take place all the time…almost as if finding a way to antananize game GM’s is a sport of kinds. Darkfall could have been another Eve, it could have been the answer to a call of combining PvE with PvP. Unfortunately, I do not see the game going in this direction if these this kind of action is being taken, this is not hardcore PvP nor does it have anything to do with being a hardcore player.
why wouldnt the gm just log all the names of the people standing there and then ban them at a diffrent time?
Because of money, DF is not Wow where they could mass ban 10K people and no one would even notice it.
This is unfortunately a logic often seen, and one that tears a game apart. Banning 200 people for exploiting will lose you 200 subscribers now. Not banning them will lose you 2000 down the line as people don't like cheaters getting away with it.
Best option: suspend the 200 for a week and reset the exploited achievements - or delete the characters. 150 of the 200 will stick around, and so will those 2000 who would leave if you did nothing.
(Yes, numbers are picked out of the air. It's just an example to make a point.)
Originally posted by wyrdaskolir I later found out that they destroyed another 'rigor party' in another major clan/alliance by kicking people.
and yet when the fiasco of corrupt gm's disrupting sieges (and otherwise cheating to help their own character's alliances and such) the lord of all things spindoctoring, I mean Tasos, stated in public releases to the gaming press that GM's in DF cannot kick players from the game and that's part of how they knew the claims were false :P.
Tasos never said GMs couldn't kick people. What he said was Aventurine checked the logs and found the reports of the GMs being corrupt (at that time) weren't true. He also said that GMs don't have the power to crash the server:
"First of all GMs cannot crash the server, or cause a client to crash. They cannot create items or money. All their actions and communications are monitored and logged. We re-checked all chat logs and GM activity for every report mentioned in the forums or reported to us at the help desk, over the time periods that the questionable conduct was supposed to have taken place and found absolutely nothing. Because of this, any public accusations on the forums accusing GMs or the company of any such activities will be removed, and everyone contributing in the thread will be banned from the forums.
GM activity is always monitored by us. If you would like to report GM conduct, then you should use support.darkfallonline.com to do so if you have proof of misconduct."
In this case, was a GM abusing his or her power? Who knows? It does seem like the rigor pyramid is an expoit, but that the GM didn't really have enough power to stop it.

so um blackthornn... do you have information that contradicts the above (+link)? or were you lying?
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
crashing someone's client's pretty much the same damned thing as kicking them, either way you're booted from the game now aren't ya.
Grouping in Old school mmo's: meeting someone at the bar and chatting, getting to know them before jumping into bed. Current mmo's grouping: tinder. swipe, hookup, hope you don't get herpes, never see them again.

No, they're not the same. One is a server side command, whereas the other is client-side and a big deal, if true. Likewise, if the GMs had the ability to actually crash the world (a large server farm), that would be a really, really big deal. Granted, Tasos may be lying, but you're attributing statements to him that just aren't true, which makes you just as full of crap.
sure. go back to your pathetic lil game you enjoy so much and wave your epeen there. oh, wait, you can't be enjoying it much if you're here posting.

I keep seeing replies where you guys are saying that my post is making Darkfall look bad but honestly I don't give a rats asscheeks about it. I'm not going to be the DF follower that hides everything I'm just telling people interesting things that happen. I just type stuff out and don't care if there are loopholes for trolls to insult.

Actually, I'm a pretty outspoken critic of the game. I'm just calling you on your bullshit. You attributed something to Tasos that wasn't true, which makes you just as full of crap as he is.
