I was suggesting repeatedly two months ago that they just make it so you have HIT something with arrows and magic.
The increase in skill rates is to compensate for the fact that you don't get skill gains when you don't hit a target.

This doesn't make it easier, and for a lot it will make it SLOWER.
You have to HIT a viable target.
Before this patch it's easier to level because you DON'T have to HIT anything.  You only needed to shoot.

This will make it HARDER for new players to gain skills; even if they do get higher gains because they HAVE TO HIT in order to get the gain in the first place.
THERE IS NO REASON TO PRAISE THIS PATCH.

Being an indie company is NO EXCUSE when you tell consumers the game is finished.

Once again they added art assets, and instituted drastic changes to the core mechanics.
    THIS IS A BETA PATCH!

The mob AI, the same AI that Tasos said a year ago was so advanced that the servers couldn't tell the dif. between players and mobs, WASN'T FINISHED.  Adjusting the AI is another way of saying they implimented MORE CODE.

They are WRITING QUEST LINES AS THEY GO.

Everything, right down to the staged release, is exactly how a beta is run.  WHY ARE PEOPLE PRAISING THEM FOR DOING WHAT SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN DONE!

The #1 hater of dfo, they needed money so they realeased. The skill are easier to level up, they help new players, they help kill macroing, they balance races more, People have to hit stuff now, so more hunting npcs and pvping, then just shooting in air, it will add more to the immersion of having a populated world, Also they added more quests for content, and monster in last patch, they are adding adjusting and improving over all,

Find another game you fail at and post on there forums about how the game makes you play like trash.

that doesn't change that this is still, obviously, an ongoing paid beta.

edit: oh, and um, could i get a link to where you got your information that they released because they needed money?  thanks.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

Irrespective of the changes mentioned in the patch notes, one thing did piss me off.  When I logged in, I expected to be where I logged off, on an island on the diametrically opposite end of the world from my bind point.  A place I painstakingly made my way to through several play sessions, exploring, killing, hiding, etc...  When I asked about it in chat, I was told that "there was a patch" and "It happens when there's a patch".  Seriously? I have to start over at my bindstone every time there's a patch, regardless where I was or how long it took or how hard it was to get there? That's bullshit. Yes, I could run straight there again, assuming I'm not killed, but frankly, it feels like a giant FU from Aventurine, as in "your time doesn't mean squat to us enough for us to get our shit together".

Are you sure you binded on the final stone? because I have connected to the area I was binded.

Honestly, I have no idea what "the final stone" means.  I've never changed my bindstone (frankly, I don't know how - I've never bothered to look, since I haven't had any interest in doing so, thus far), so I'm still bound where I was when I first created my character, at Hunter's Moon.  When I logged out, I was on an island between the main continent and Cairn.  When I logged back in, that's where I expected to be.  Instead, I was back at my bindstone, as if I had died or used /bindstone_recall.

Like I said, I asked in chat and was told by others that it happened to them too, and that it's normal when there's a patch.

Another "fun" aspect of this patch is that general douchebaggery, like jumping in front of players at spawns, has increased (I almost never saw it in the two weeks I've been playing - now it's constant at the goblin spawns).

you should go like everyone else that pves regularly -- go find a place where you can either climb up on a wall/rooftop and snipe mobs; failing that, find a spot where you can get the mob stuck, and again -snipe from a distance.

i really don't bother with pve, i trade for whatever i need and have broken down and picked up crafting so that i can be sure to always have lots of equipment of all types. weapon, armor, alchemy, bowyer, enchant, etc etc etc - i just grind a little for mats, make a new suit/set/whatever and if i'm short on something, i can sell some arrows quickly, or trade someone for mats/regs we each need.

the game is complex, in the sense that there's a lot of mindless grinds.  and since this is, now OBVIOUSLY, a paid beta -- everyone that's exploited and/or macroed for the first couple of months, will now have an insane headstart over anyone new.   this isn't eve, where it can balance out... this isn't eve in any form.

Thanks - I appreciate the tip.  That being said, it doesn't address the overall issue that players essentially "reset" to their bindstone after a patch.  That's ridiculous.
