So the new rig should have a 1 gig 4870 and an 800w ps, I was thinking of slapping another card in there and run dual cards, now would I have to use another 1 gig 4870, or would the 512 work just as well in crossfire?
It settles on the lowest abilities between the cards - if one card is clocked slower or has less memory than the other then they both operate at the lower clock or memory capacity. So you could throw in a 512 and the 1gb will shut off half its memory to match the 512, but if you're using a pair of 4870's you're probably better off with 1gb on both to facilitate the higher graphics settings.
