You are not confined by your level or your place on the darkfall map. You can also decide which skills you want to work on, I do very little work on my magic skill yet i can still use magic, I mostly shoot arrows but does that make me an Archer class? No, actually I consider myself more of a trader/crafter type. I also use a great axe does that make me a 2 handed warrior? nope certinly does not. I can go wherever I want and focus on whatever I want... Its a sandbox

Just FYI, a 100~200 ping is not a killer. Even a FPS should be playable until the 300s, but higher than that it gets retarded and not possible to "get used to" (you'd get used with the 0,1~0,3 second-delay in time), especially with a crosshair system. I'm used to that, as the majority of western MMOs have servers either North America or Europe. The wonders of geographical latency, blame technology for not allowing direct and perfectly routed connections all over the world yet, someday we might see the world in under 100 ms of latency and latency not being a factor for separating servers per region.
I guess you havnt played many fps or played one on a good server. Most will get you kicked for 200 ping. Ive only played on a very very few dedicated servers that allow 200 ping. 100 is pushing it. 60 ping is the max for me. 30 to 40 is normal and good close servers are in the 20s.
At around a 100+ ping you cant compete in CQ unless you sneak up on him. Far away you have a chance since youll be stuttering. But after a few kills everyone else will get a feel for your lag and just dominate you.

Its not about you getting use to ur delays but the fact that your output and input is delayed. Sure its not a big deal in L4D but CS, CoD and especialy TF2 just to name a few 3 digit ping isnt good.

Like when I grouped with a friend and tested syncing. Where was he in releation to me. When I fired an arrow, or swung my axe what was the result based on his possition to mine. When he swung at the same time as I blocked what was the result.
In the case of blocking, I or him would deliver full damage on the first swing and block and then the next swing while blocking would register partial damage. You can not time a block based by pressing and releasing when fighting another player or NPC. Whether on purpose or by design, blocking is used as a means of tanking. I'm of the opinion that Av did it by design. Group combat is no dif. then combat in a "themepark" MMO.
One guy is the tank for as long as the mob will attack. He tanks by HOLDING block while the rest of the group spanks the mob. When the mob changes target, the new target takes over the tanking, and the privious tank starts spanking the mob. The only time anyone is able to time a block by pressing and releasing is by shear, dumb luck.

Oddly enough 2 consecutive patches upped magic damage, ruduced cooldowns or removed them completely, and increased dot duration to increase magic damage. I wonder who was telling the truth and who was lying.

The problem with magic was that most spells cost a lot of mana, and mages were going OOM after 10 nukes or so. Notice they reduced mana cost twice and increased mana regeneration during their patches. They increased the damage of some spells that were clearly broken like Thunderstorm etc that were doing half the damage of their other school equivalents. Or Blast, that was doing less damage than mana missile or something weird like that.

I didnt have some much fun for years in mmo. just hope they can pull of all they wanted whit this game. and to the OP , yes i feel this game is EPIC to.
I always think Darkfall isnt a sandbox because it offer only one thing to do for players ( and not to well implemented) but i have an insight answering other thread and now im convinced that Darkfall is the greatest sandbox of all time. Its the game out there that offer more freedom to the players to play the way they want instead of the way the devs want. What other game give you the options to use speedhack, aimbots, teleports, remove walls, see all or have a FLYING SHIP no matter what the devs think of it?
