Ideas for features within an MMORPG

So I have some ideas towards MMORPGs.

First I would like to say that I am very fond of seeing your contents on your avatar. Think of a soldier. A soldier may have 2 weapons, plus grenades, plus a knife. We'll keep it at that. Instead of just seeing the primary weapon you used displayed, I like to see all items displayed and depending on what they are, that they are correctly displayed. So one weapon could be slung over his back, or in his hands. The other weapon such as maybe a pistol could be holstered. (To elaborate further you can increase character customization by .. if you don't have a holster, he can tuck it into his waistband, or maybe you have a small pistol you can have a ankle holster, so you can conceal it from your friend or foe.) Grenades could be dangling from a qualified piece of clothing, such as from a vest, or it could be placed in pouches. Each of these clothing accessories would be purchased in game. Knives could be tucked in boot, hanging from vest, belt, etc.

My further idea is basically regarded towards players and their interactions, based on combat. The idea would require a futuristic setting, and would need to incorporate such things as maybe a controller compared to the typical keyboard and mouse.

Now while in free-roam, normal game play your character will not represent damage, meaning if you are shot or hit with a sword your arm won't fall off, but your health points will lower until you are incapacitated. At this point a nearby healer could resurrect you, or you will be taken to an aid station where you will be charged a fee for them to heal you, if you don't have the required fee you will have to do some mission for them to grant you the fee.

Now, on line with that, there is the duel mode and the purpose of this whole idea. When you accept a duel, it's no holds barred. All damage is accurately shown, meaning depending on the weapon and where it strikes, you can even cleave someones arm off. This of course means your fighting engine will have to be really accurate and on top of things. So if I try to block with my sword high, and you are swinging down low towards my leg. Depending on your sword and power, you could either slice my leg really deep or slice it off all together.

Your character will have a vast number of strikes based on his skills, and depending on his skills in weapons he will also have skills or moves using them. So you can compare this to a game like Oblivion, or the more recent UFC Disputed where your moves control your character, and you have to outwit or have the right combination of moves to pummel your opponent. While in close combat, you will be able to use any of your aresenal of weapons. You could pull a grenade out of your pouch, but remember this is happening in real time. So if you have time to pull the grenade, you will be successful, if not you might find yourself holding a grenade but be without a head. Your choice of moves, weapons, and skill will determine the victor. This is a very complex system, but I think in this day in age there needs to be more of press 1, 2, 4, 6. Note that all of these would be in "Duel Mode"

Once the fight is proclaimed a victor, either by death or pity. If pity the winner has the ability to do what they want. I can move in and cut your face up, which your character will have to live with for the remainder of their life, unless altered at the aide station [ This could make for good character story line. ] Or I could chop off an individual finger, arm, hand, whatever the case. Once the victor is done, the injured person will be taken back to the aide station. At this time the wounds could either be dressed and healed as is, meaning you could be the 9 fingered man, or you could have some appendages placed back on and a scar would be evident.

Also say your arm was removed, you could be armless, or get a replacement bionic arm. Advantages to this would be maybe stronger, faster, but to be fair there would have to be some disadvantages. Maybe the more you use it's extra strength, that it lowers your stamina or health.

This is a different type of idea, because your actions determine your character's fate. If you lose a duel, and your character is decapitated. The character is dead, removed from game permantantly. Some people might have a problem with this, but it was the result of their actions. So to battle this we may be able to say, your character can be rebuilt a total of x times. Meaning you would start from scratch with that character, but it's name would remain. If you die x times as a result of a duel, the character is removed from your account and no longer able to be used.

The combination of possibilities could be endless. You could develop an expert swordsman, who only has one arm. You could be a hardened mercenary with a scar down his face, maybe the last fight you would ever lose? Basically it puts the story line in our hands, and the game depending on its setting would have its own story obviously.

On with the aide station, this is also where advanced technology can be used. Such as that as the bionics of body parts. You can restore your character back to somewhat new condition, maybe remove a scar, bullet wound, etc, for a price.

These ideas are something you don't see in any games, and it could be mostly adapted to a single player game... But I am more a fan of MMORPGs because they allow you to immerse yourself into the character, build upon it and usually have infinite amount of things  to do. So with that said, what do you all think?
