I played in beta, I played at release, and I quit because the game was a mess back then.
Well guess what! Vanguard is a work of art now!
Yeah I know there are a bunch of "I love vanguard threads" now. However, I just wanted to make another so people really see that players are enjoying this game.
My main reasons for loving VG:
-The world is huge, yet still filled with content.
-Brotherhoods help keep my girlfriend my level
-Seamless world without instances or loading screens! (loading is only done between continents, and when teleporting across the world)
-Great social/RP features including; In world housing/player cities, and an appearence tab.
-VG is a MULTIPLAYER game. You dont have to group, but yes there are advantages, and the majority of content is focused on player groups.
-Amazing graphics: View distance maxed out is simply breathtaking, as well as lighting/shader effects indoors.
-Corpse runs and long travel times add risk and force use of caution.
-First mount at level 10, and every 10 levels after that. 19 unique racial mounts. Flying mounts in game.
-Ships! Sailing the seas in your customized ship is just so epic! Bring friends, they can hang out above or below deck. Or simply park your ship in the harbor and go on an adventure.
-Lastly I love VG because the game is still filled with mystery. I've discovered items myself! and players still learn new things all the time. Unlike other modern games where you can look up every quest, item, location, and npc in the game. VG is a world still filled with things to discover.

theres no denying it has improved, but last time i was there, it was a ghost town on seradon. i barely got to group with anyone, this is mainly due to majority of everyone that is currently there being past my level (lvl 27 warrior) I should know, ive literally asked off and on for hours for a group that never came together,so it was a mootpoint to even bother spending $15 a month on a game that has no real grouping or even if it does its hard to get a group to level properly for anything. but im glad your having fun. i wish you the best.

I've played VG several times on and off since beta. The graphics are great and there are a lot of quests. In the end though, I quit recently and here's the main reasons why:
1. More and more forced grouping
2. Dev team is small and the constant theme is "We would like to (insert wish list here), but we don't have not enough time / resources." Sony saved the game only to put it on life support.
3. Game updates are slow in coming and break a ton of things that can sometimes take months to fix
4. Performance still is not what you'd expect out of a game that's been out for as long as VG has been out. Still lots of stupid bugs, hitching, etc.
5. Most animations look like an afterthought at best, although some are good (martial arts for monks and disciples seem good).
I can put up with most of the problems, but the forced grouping one is a deal breaker for me. I refuse to invest countless hours into the game only to have my playstyle dictated to me later on. I quit when I saw the writing on the wall.
I am playing the trial version now and so far it seems similar to the "ohter" MMORPG's I play. Iam not up in level enough to really judge it yet but, so far it is enjoyable., I am looking for a guild to hook up with but not a lot of players on noob area. Ill get some levels and lets see if the pro's outwiegh the cons.

There is are not as many players online from 25 to 35 it seems. Maybe only 100 through that range. There are many below and move that range however. I leveled an alt through that range lately and could always find groups if you are willing to go where they are or willing to start you own group from time to time.
I would compare the population to that of EQ back when it was popular. Its pretty full but massive and expansive, if you dont go where the people are, its a ghost town, prepare to play alone, but thats only because its so huge and you have so many choices of where to level. Unlike modern mmo's there isnt just two choices of zone to level within.
Also I would like to add, after playing WoW for 3 years, which i really enjoyed btw, its not much different in tterms of population on that, just a little more eager to group. From playing a high pop server on WoW i solo'd through to 80 pretty much and was in hunting zones with around ten other people for the majority of the game. The only time I saw people is when i went to stormwind or ironforge and there was a load of people...standing about...doing nothing. So yes compared to something like WoW it looks on first glance empty, but then compare the hunting zones to WoW it starts to even out, people are leveling with you, there not sat in a city dueling and comparing armour stats. The best way i can describe it is that its very populated like EverQuest, some zones are dead without players, some are full.
