K so like most I quit after the NGE and like some I came back for Ch 6 hated it even more and quit again. I for the last time came back to try the new card game bull and hated it just as much, and here is the point the only reason why I keep giving this game one more shot is honeslty it WAS my favorite game I have ever played and I think I am not alone in saying that. My point is the last time I logged in which was about 2 months ago now I logged into a litteraly diserted server, it was terrible.
Here is the fix SOE and I know a lot of people have talked about it but I will make it so simple that even you guys cant mess it up 2 or 3 roll back servers. Simple as that.
2 servers dedicated to solely pre-cu and I mean REAL pre cu like way back in the day pre cu
and the third would be a CU server (because I honestly thought that the CU wasnt that bad, at least in comparison to the NGE and ch 6)
make a VERY small team dedicated to those servers, not to update the servers but to just do bug fixes and general GM duties.
I promise you SOE if you were to do this those 3 servers will fill up faster than you guys lost subs with the launch of N(fail)G(fail)E
The only problem of course would be that SWG would then be a viable game again and possibly hurt swtor so im not sure if I want that now haha, I dont know, but still this would work, and the general population knows this why dont you guys?!?!?!
It is funny how I am directing this at SOE when I know they dont read these boards let alone their own boards o well

SOE will not run 2 different versions of the game ever. If you do come back note that due to the free server transfers your home server most likely is deserted, there are 10 good population servers and the rest have 50 or less players (some much loer than that).
If you are going to move do it now on June 1st the free transfers are over.
To make a small correction SOE has run 2 different versions of a game before but in that instance they owned the IP.

Isnt this this game in the weirdest spot? Players like the old game and would play again if they brought back the old game. I would like to see a mix of the 3 games myself. Keep and work on the NGE combat style, it is better than the old, no matter what people say, its only drawback is broken animations. Bring back the old sandbox interactions we had in the Pre-CU. And bring back the village from the CU. And keep the collections and instances of the NGE. Also I would like to see some of the old proffesions, Creater Handler, old Smuggler, Doc, TKM, Ranger, and a few others. Bring back decay and mind bar and force bar. Add in a actual galactic war with control over worlds. Thiers a ton of stuff they could bring back and work on to make this game a real contender.
Now the weird place this game is in. SOE is making money and would continue to develope this game. But then you have the other partner LA, which after 3 attempts to get this game on track has come to the conclusion that SOE just cant deliver what they want. And what LA wants is to cash in big time with the SW name. Thats why thier will be no roll back no real forward direction for the game, and absolutly no classic servers that may steal players away from SWTOR.
Why not just close the game down? Me personally I think their are about 100k people still playing, up or down 20k depending on people leaving then coming back. And why make 100k or more people mad, especially when they still make you money. I would be very suprised if SOE and LA make any more efforts towards real improvements or additions to SWG. More than likely they are happy with the situation and will close it down someday when thier is no more $$$ to make off the remaining playerbase.
You honestly think they still have 100k players?

I, too, was heartbroken (quite literally) on the day I signed into the NGE. I, too, have logged on to give the game a try several times since, just hoping to get even a moment's joy out of it. Even going so far as to log in specifically to fly my Jedi Starfighter, just to pretend for a minute that the world was right again.
And I leave heartbroken once again.
I agree, though, that SoE will never run multiple versions of the game. The game we loved has left us, and it is time to move on. It is never coming back. She has a new lover now, one she adores more than she ever did us. So move on, my friends, move on. Find a new girl, if even for a moment. Find a new companion, and eventually this pain, too, shall pass. We shared many, many memorable moments, moments that will forever be cherished.
But it is time to move on.
*sigh*
for now that new game for me is WoW but my problem is its not star wars. I am a real star wars fan that loves Si Fi so it is sad to play WoW
So I guess we will all just have to hope that TOR will not fail (I do not think it will I mean this is freaking Bio we are talking about) so lets just keep our fingers crossed for another amazing SW game :]]]
SOE sayed it has 100k +, Im guessing thats accounts. Thiers about 10 active servers, each server maxes at about 3000 people. Now some are maxing like Starsider, but most are probably at 2000. So lets see, 20k people play this game a day. And I read that most people each day are a reflection of the total population, something like 25%. But Ive probably overstated how many are on each server.
Lets make it 1000 logged onto each of the 10. That makes it 10k, which would mean thiers about 40-50k players. Useing the 2000 x 10 servers makes it about 100k players. Just to be safe take the High and the Low and average. Even if its just 75k people that still is enough to keep the servers open; thier makeing 12mill on subs, and more with cards.
Your numbers are truly silly. If SWG still has 30K subs, I'd be surprised. The servers maxxed at 3K players in pre-CU days; NGE's pseudo-FPS combat would be struggling hard to support a tenth that many players. It took battles with hundreds of players on each side to crash a server in the old days, now the system is lagging badly with a couple dozen fighters in the same area.
Even at 500-1000 logged in per ten active servers would be 5000-10000 people per day plus maybe another 200 X 10 for the inactive servers for 2000. It would not suprise me that thier are 7000-12000 people playing this game daily. And if the daily base reflects 25% thier are a easy 30-50k actual people not accounts. If your talking accounts thier are probably still 100k plus, since most people have more than one account. SOE let alone LA would have closed this game down long ago if you actually think thiers less than that. I really have no idea why people think no one plays this game, go to Starsider or Bria, both are very heavy.
Those two I would consider to have about 2500 each logged on daily. Thats an easy 5000 people. The other 8 have 1000, anyway I look at it, the game still has about 50-75k actual people still playing. Thats not alot of people but its still far from being completely dead. I just left the game for a break, I have toons on 5 of the most populated servers. So dont tell me I dont have a feel for how many are playing, I can see how many are in the popular locations and then guess the numbers that are doing instances, or are out crafting, looting, or are afk.
Lagg is something completely differnt now, the Devs admitted that the areas with lagg are due to the servers loading in. And yes population has something to do with that. If someone hasnt been to that location for a few minutes it has to load back in, this causes lagg. Thats why the town pvp with 100 or more people would cause major lagg. Each of those houses had to load in. Then consider the amount of data being wasted on that, and you can see why thiers lagg. But today the servers are loading out map data to save space and bandwidth. SWG servers have been turned down to save money. Im guessing more than one game has been added to servers. So SWG and EQII might be fighting for bandwidth. Who knows whats really happening but I agree thier is much more noticeable lagg.
