Complete MMORPG

The debate rages on wether WoW is ready to go or will be ready to go for November 15th. I would like to know if anyone has seen or heard of a MMORPG that was ready to go and bug free on release?

MMOs are never "complete".  As I think I mentioned in another thread, there's some point where you just have to say "okay...the content is set...let's release and then work on post-release projects".  Right now, the game is not generating any income for them, making it difficult to continue paying salaries in order to further develop the game.  They have a very solid game set up, with relatively few bugs, imbalances, or problems.  It's in their best interest to release it to the public very soon, so they can generate some income and then continue working hard to make the game as great as they can.  One of the reps said something along the lines of:  the release is indeed a big milestone, but please remember that we will constantly be working on this game to provide you with the best game we can.

No MMORPG has been released without some problems. Some have had less problems while others have had more. Some people tried to hold Final Fantasy XI as an example of a great launch when it came out in the US but you can't go by that since it was out in Japan for a full year before it came to the US. You have to look at the japanese release for that which had its share of problems. The most you can ask for a mmorpg I believe is that the game will release stable, zones and systems working decently, login server working, cd keys are valid, and that servers don't crash(meaning have enough). Cause no matter how much you beta test something the size of a mmorpg, your going to miss something or misjudge what people will do. So while WoW is said to be solid in beta (I really wish I could test it out but I couldn't get into the beta or stress beta :( ) it will have bugs when it releases or some other problem. For example, the one thread I read over at the official beta forums abut people being kicked out of the game in large numbers a time due to a recent patch or something. Just like I think EQ2 will have some trouble when it goes live. Then again maybe Wow and EQ2 will surprise everyone and hav eno trouble at all, making history and a new standard. :)
