Upgrading your Account Question

If you have an original account (from launch) with no addons, can you buy the new "expansion" with all of the expansions in them and apply it to your account? Or is it only good for new accounts?

If you buy the expansion "The Shadow Odyssy" You will get all the expansions and adventure packs. All you have to do is add the code to your account. No need to get a new account.

If you buy the retail version, one of the items you will be able to claim is a "Dire Bear" That is a tag along pet till level 20 then turns into amount for you to ride. The animals speed increases at different levels up to I believe it is 52% at level 80.

However, just for curiousity sake, I wanted to make sure I understand the "cheapest" way to get back into the game. I'm looking to start fresh, so my old characters dont matter as much.

If I reactivate, I assume ill have to immediately pay the 15 bucks to resub and then immediately pay the 40~ bucks for SO, correct?

However, can SO be bought to create a new account which will in turn give you a free month? Or must you buy the base EQ + the SO expansion?

What about if you're jumping from a trial account? How does that work?

yes, you can buy TSO and start a new acct and get a free month

- TSO includes the base game and all expansions

But if you use it to upgrade your existing account you don't get the free month?

no free month, but you will get all e veteran rewards for the age of your account, if it's several years old, thats alot of claimables.

You could also have someone to use the buddy program on you. Youll get some stuff both and if he/she mentors you youll get extra XP. Which means you first have to download the beta and then buy the SO box.

My account is from 2004, so it's definitely pretty old. I'm trying to recall some of things you get, any of them more than mere "token" items?

How does the buddy program work? It's basically a referall program and you get a bonus when you play together? Can the buddy program be used on existing accounts?

Mystic Moppet Billy  (shrink your character, useless but fun)

Orb of Concentrated Memories  can reset your adventure vitality once a week

 

 

"Refer A Friend" account doesnt really do anything special for you

the new acct gets same perks as the Trial gives you

the Referring acct also receives a free heirloom mount

 

if you sponsor a new account and you group with that account, you will both get triple experience for up to 3 months

and can teleport to each other every 30 minutes

Does the referall program and the benfits you just listed work for existing accounts? Such as, If I reactive and then refer another friend with an existing account, can we get the bonuses such at the teleport option?

btw,

I personally do NOT recommend buying TSO if you have an old EQ2 account

good chances that you are already credited with all expansions up to and including Kunark 

(from SOEs Living Legacy promotion last summer)

 

review the expansions credited to your account at the SOE Station  under "sub info" for EQ2

 

can probably just subscribe and have access to everything but the latest expansion

(which was primarily content for level 75+ anyhow)

Ah, I did not know that.

But just so I understand, SO DOES come with actual new content, right? Or, is it merely a "roll-up" expansion of all of the prior expansions with no new content in an of itself?
