Need help with XTREME AUDIO settings!

I'm trying to make the ideal setup for gaming. My 5.1 speaker system is working perfectly fine. It's the sound card's settings I'm having trouble with.

Currently, I'm trying to get the best ideal setup for games like BioShock, that use a ton of surround sound and atmoshperic effects.

My current settings from console:

Speakers - 5.1

EAX Effects - Enabled, 0.00dB, set on Theatre (other options include Ampitheater, Jazz Club, Stone Hall, etc.)

CMSS-3D - Enabled, Stero Xpand, 100% slid to Stereo

Crystalizer - Enabled, 65%

Are these settings good? It doesn't sound quite good when I play games and music.

Sound blaster was the reason i quit buying anything related to sound cards. They basically put a copyright on everything and lawsuits to put competition out of business.

Last time i even looked into SB,they were having a ton of problems and couldn't even get their own hardware to work properly. They had started some new project, the name skips me,that was suppose to fix all their problems,i have not looked into it since then ,about a couple years ago.

This is the site related to your Bioshock.Even if you are not using SoundBlaster ,there is a good chance it is SB drivers and a system built using SB gear.

If you are using an integrated Intel sound system, then forget about getting too involved with it,just plug the speakers into their respective colour code and go nuts playing Bioshock.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

    What Operating System ..?

Secondly, you do understand that you have to MANUALLy switch between game mode and music mode, right?

I quit Creative Labs / SB when they threatened to sue a guy for fixing their drivers to work with the Audigy line in Vista since it screwed up their plans of not having any driver support so people would have to buy new sound cards. And they have terrible driver support for their NEW cards on top of that.

    Sorry I can't actually help OP :)

Vista Ultimate 32 bit, and I realize that.

Can people with no advice refrain from posting? I don't care for the "lets bash Creative" posts.

    OK

Turn crystalizer off, don't use stereo expand, use stereo surround (66% i find best).

    See how that works..!!
