BUT THE GAME WILL HAVE RMT transactions GO FAIL GO FAIL......
I wont be playing any game with RMT that is Real money transactions for Gear, health potions, light sabers and more bag space. THOSE people DUMB enough to fall for that please give me a call my bank account can always use a few free donations.
Hmm yeah it was a good video but WoW had good videos too and... yeah... Vids don't tell do much beyond exciting the imagination into a false sense of anticipation. If I can have dual flamethrowers attached to my wrists and a jet pack then I'd be giddy, otherwise meh. Go boring lightsabres....
Uh....you did see exactly that in the movie. AND you already saw jetpacks and wrist-mounted flame-throwers in Developer-Dispatches, meaning, IN the game. So what exactly are you complaining about?

Like every other MMO out there, there is always a super popular class and it sure hasn't ruined the game for most people. There is always a bazillion elves running around. A few million mages shooting fireballs and a buttload of warriors swinging their e-peens. I fail to see the logic or the concern over this jedi-fest you keep harping on about in every frigging TOR thread.
With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal
Looked very nice. But I don't know, they have never developed a MMORPG before, I just hope they can pull something really good, it's BioWare after all.

Blizzard had never developed one before WoW... they seem to doing fairly well...
How's that any worse than "biggest lack of a real life" wins?
If you dont know that I will tell you.
lets say you worked your butt of IRL to get something done and suddenly somebody whos dad owns the company gets promoted before you, happans all the time, IRL is unfair...
If you whent to see a football game and suddenlty the owners of one of the teams came down and put a big pile off money in the hands of the referee so thiere team would win...???
If a politician uses chash to buy off his fellow colleagues so thy can put up a Big factory in your area that brings pollution and destrutction to the local wild life and makes your kidds piss green?
GAMES NEED TO BE FAIR... AND TIME INVESESTED HAS TO MATHER..... WHY DO YOU THINK SPORTS HAS SURVIVED, CHESS HAS SURVIVED THRU THE AGES. PEOPLE LIKE TO VISIT A PLACE THAT IS FAIR AND EVEN.
Real life money transactions in games are the bloody end of this genre, dumbing down of content is the end of this genre, People need hard games and heroes to look up to (in mmos that is the people who have put in the time to be the best) Making the content to esy and letting everyone have everything is a sure way of destroying your own buisness if oyu are making mmos.
haveing made a big name for myself and my wow char abbedon i can tell you from first hand experiance that players need the heros of there relms to look up too and follow to aspire to be like them i was in the same position with players infront of me (although there were only a couple) its still what kept me going to aspire to there position and walk along side them as one of the greats
and i do thing that this is one of the things that keeps an mmo alive..there always a great pve/pvp player that folks want to hunt down or rise above
so in all sense i agree with that comment well said
I saw this trailer this morning at work and omg i had to change into a new pair of work pants . I put all the speakers on the shelf up and turned up the trailer...and then the music started omg i was shivering of excitement. Had my co-workers who are also fans listening, all rushed over and we all huddled up and watched it on the projector . LOVE ... IT!
With the "everyone is going jedi" thing - i dont know a huge amount of lore but isnt the game set where there were alot of jedis? meaning having a little more jedis than other profs set the scene more? Story wise anyway, gameplay wise it wouldnt all be that good having just jedis.
Lets hope a few more classes will be revealed and people find their new playable class.
I for one will be going Bounty Hunter , never really liked playing the jedi's in any game, always the guy with the guns heh heh...or maybe the trooper
Some of you have leanerd NOTHING in the last 18 years. Cinematic trailers are just that, they are NOT game play footage. Just chek out WoW trailers, they are brilliant but they do not represent the gameplay what so ever.
How's that any worse than "biggest lack of a real life" wins?
If there is no RMT, then we can measure characters by hours, and all players are equal when measured that way.
If you are skill level 50 in swords, or level 50 in your class, and I am also 50, then we both know we played the game roughly X hours to get there, and that we did Y amount of quests or mob grinding.
I don't care if you did it in a week, a month, a year. I know you did it, and you know I did it. We have both climbed the same mountain, and now we both stand at the top. I don't care if you got there faster or slower than me, I know you did it the exact same way I did, one step at a time.
Add RMT to the equation. How did you get to 50? Did you do exactly what I did? I have no idea, maybe you skipped content and paid, maybe you did some content and paid some. We are not equal, and it is not fair.
That being said, I'm going to buy ToR on release and try it. If it's ruined by RMT I'll cancel my sub, but I'm definitely trying this one.
Also, I"ve heard various stories, some saying RMT is big time in the game, others saying it's just a rumor, or you can just buy cool clothes (which still sucks, but whatever), so I don't know exactly the story on this.
I hope that by the time SWTOR is released it will support the new graphics hardware cards and we will at last be able to experience a bit of what we saw in this and similar trailers.
I trust BIOWARE they make very good games with nice stories.
By the way, I looked all over the net and could not find any specific reference to TOR being an item shop game. I saw the reference to RMT, but then I also saw a clarification that the statement was misinterpreted.
RMT can mean a lot of things, including microtransactions to unlock new content. Even if it means "item shop" it doesn't necessarily mean you can legitimately buy your way to the top the way you can in WoW or any other game with a vibrant gold-farming/power-leveling market.

Why's it not "fair"? Any idiot with a computer and a lot of time on their hands can level an MMO toon. It's not like there's a chance of failure. Time is money, my friend. RMT potentially gives people with limited time a greater ability to focus on the part of the game that most interests them, without having to "grind" the parts of the game that aren't fun.
What exactly do you lose because someone else got to the same level you did in a different way? There are really only two possible repercussions of this: you either have one more person you can have fun fighting AGAINST that you'd otherwise not have, in the case of PVP , or, in the case of PVE, you have one more person you can group with to tackle content at your level.
As far as I'm concerned, it's all win.

I'd prefer they make it into a single player game if they want to recreate that sort of action - that would be great. But anyone with any sense of realism and common sense knows that MMOs dont play like that, and the real thing will be far more trivial and less exciting. Single Player games for 'being the epic hero' and fast paced combat; MMOs for diversity, community and being just a face in the crowd - simple as that, i'd like to believe there could be a worthy compromise, but it seems unlikely.
Some of you have leanerd NOTHING in the last 18 years. Cinematic trailers are just that, they are NOT game play footage. Just chek out WoW trailers, they are brilliant but they do not represent the gameplay what so ever.

Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
I dont like to give too much weight to cinimatic trailers
...but damn! that was cool!
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
you really are behind on the loop huh?
Go watch the holonet of BH and Trooper
Truly awesome trailer by any standards. I'd be more hyped up if I'd see a gameplay-video though.

I still think Bioware is going to blow this game. So far all I see is a jedi fest. That will not a great game make.

SW:TOR is most likely just a skill click fest, i.e. click button to rise up and use your flame throwers...

I watched it. It was great.
Now hopefully we'll get some actual gameplay footage Wednesday, because I could care less about cinematics.
