Hello, I would appreciate it if everyone would not talk about EVE or Darkspace in this thread because they are focused on capital ships combat and I am talking about twitch based(as in wing commander/XvT) space combat here that has a joystick control method of controlling a starfighter or ship so I would like to share a discussion with these types of games. It would be rude to do so.
Anyways I beta tested Vendetta a couple of days ago and what I have to say:
What does Vendetta has over Jumpgate?
* Vendetta is availible in all 3 operating systems.
* Jumpgate is only availible for windows. I assume the people who created Jumpgate loves micro$oft products soooo much. The european methof of logging into Jumpgate is a total nightmare with all those M$ web objects.
* Vendetta has an easier learning curve. In that case because of the simple flight system, newbies will often get hooked on this game in an instant.
* Jumpgate will take hours or even a day or two to finally get used to the basics. Lets say 20 new accounts were created in Jumpgate in a session of 2 weeks, only 4 of them stayed.
* Vendetta's grapgics is nicely polished.
* Jumpgate's graphics are way outdated.
* Vendetta will be able to choose wide varity of crafts from fighters to capital ships.
* Jumpgate you can only fly small crafts.
* You can own multiple ships in Vendetta.
* In Jumpgate, you can only own up to 1 ship unless if you spent loads of credits to get a player owned starbase with a ship hangar module in it.
* You can also get a custom color for your ship in Vendetta.
* Jumpgate doesn't.
* Everyone in vendetta is connected to only one server. You will get to play with the european players on the same server as well.
* Theres two servers for Jumpgate. One for europe and one for north america. Unfortunitly, the european server has lots more players(200 on a daily basis) than North American(Which can't hardley push 50 online players). The Jumpgate community rocks, too bad it's on the euro side.
* Vendetta's model = quicker, more true-to-space-combat feel, and it is a cut above, for both "sweat on your palms" action, and "intensity".
* Jumpgate's is a tactical spaceflight sim much more than an "action" spaceflight sim. It's PVP flight model is submarines in space.
* Is Vendetta it's fairly easy for a newbie to travel from one place to another. Just simply go 3000m away. To avoid those annoying ion storms, pick an open empty space to warp to.
* Jumpgate's space travel method is like sailing sea in space. Wake me up when you get there.
* Vendetta's PvP system has it just right with the speed. Ignore the people who says the ships fly too slow.
* In Jumpgate method of dogfighting, you intend to see colorful pixelated dots in space.
* Leveling in Vendetta is lot less important. You could PvP at 3/3/x/x and it takes less than an hour to obtain. There would be more weapons availible if you tend wo work on your combat points more often. Many useful PvP worthy class ship availible at low levels.
* Leveling in Jumpgate is a total time waster. It will take a half a month before you can be able to PvP. Ships classes are limited to your level/experience points.
I used to play Jumpgate long long time ago, and the company seem to made a huge disappointment to the game, and took off to make another mmorpg(Auto Assault) which left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. They also lacked promises of contents that would be introduced back after their expansion pack that was delayed for 9 months. And today, the promised contents for EP2 is still not here.
Now if I betad in SWG Jump to Light speed, then I would have a review about this game as well however, I was too poor to buy that game anyways.
