Players like you are the main problem of gaming today you see a trailer of a game with some IP you known and you count every other mmo out right away without not known anything of the other mmo!
FF14 will pull away the FFXI fans that were coming to Aion, and the PvE players. Lineage 2 and PvP players remain.
Aion won't suffer a whole lot. It's all good folks.
It will be released sometime in 2010 simultaneously in Japan and NA. The wait will not be all that long and fans who have been following do know something about it. Hardcore fans always do kids.
End of Aion Online? What about all the other mmos? Is it the end of all mmos in existence? No reason Aion should be singled out. Definitely an intellilgent post, you're right, all mmos will cease to have any members when FF14 comes out, just like what happened when FF11 came out.

Before you insult someone's intelligence ask yourself :What could this person be really saying?
It's somewhat common knowledge many FFXI players were to come over to Aion or at least keeping an eye on it, now there's no reason for them to. Though OP does exagerrate.
PS3 exclusive means: IT WILL RELEASE ON ONE CONSOLE. It's also coming to PC. And don't doubt there WILL be a microsoft version, for the 360 or whatever xbox version comes next.
Excellent news, the more quality MMOs from quality devs, the merrier.
As for the "This game already got killed", it's obvious the OP is trolling and wants to start a flame war... YAY let's take the bait and be laughed at!
There is no release date, they only stated they are looking for beta to begin sometime in 2010 and a global launch to follow. Calm down, and before i see another one of these posts. This will not effect Aion. People who want oto play Aion will play Aion. People who want to play FF14 will play FF14. Quit with the doom and gloom, you saw a trailer, thats it. Leave it as that and wait for actual gameplay.
There are billions of people on this planet, people who make these posts act like only a select few people play one mmo at a time....I dont think FF14 will effect Aion....But i HOPE it does hehe. I love FF and will play FF14 over Aion hands down..
Seriously you game hoppers are the reason MMOs suck so much ass these days. I'm sorry you go off for months how awesome Aion is and then with one game announcement you call for the death of Aion. No wonder Devs are all confused as to what type of game to give to the community. With players like you they give up on giving us solid content over the long haul and just focus on getting box sales. Can you blame them? you guys have MMO commitment issues.
Uhm, I hop games (usually after a year or longer). But the reason for that is that the endgame gets boring after a while. If it was better made I would stay longer.
If the games where better people would stay longer. I ain't playing something and pay monthly fees once the game gets boring. Don't put all the blame on the players.

Dude you're not a game hopper, hell playing a 6 months to a year is above the average of most gamers.
But playing a game for a month and moving along is the reason devs only go for box sales.
Also don;t give me that "the game isnt good enough" stuff, the game could be solid and these guys move along anyway for the new toy on the shelf.
While there may have been a number of people thinking of going to Aion because its artstyle is similar to Final Fantasy that is not the general population of Aion. It already has (last I heard) 3.5 million subscribers so the chances of FF 14 killing it are slim. For one, we really don't know all FF will offer. If it is similar to to the previous FF Online game that is out currently its playstyle steers toward a totally different crowd than that of Aion.
Aion is more related to Lineage/Lineage 2 than that of Final Fantasy. Yes, FF has kept a consistent fan base but last numbers I saw Lineage 2 actually has a higher subscription total. Granted a ton of them could be bots for all we know. The fact is Lineage/Lineage 2 has its own fan base and Final Fantasy has its own. Mainly the Lineage crowd will venture toward Aion than FF's. So Final Fantasy's announced realease really holds only a small amount of effect. No where near the "Already killed" status. Especially since it is already released elsewhere except EU and NA presenyly with a substantial following.

First of all have Aion already many players, who knows when FFIV will be released?
Secondly, we don't know much about FFIV yet, it might suck. It will surely compete with Aion but FFXI never killed of Lineage 2.
So why do you think this game will?

Yes, cause AION will be competeing with FFXIV, considering FFXIV is a playstation 3 exclusive...

Its for PC to.
I'm only interested in FF14 because its coming to consoles. I would prefer a new IP PVP centered game with flying myself.

Ah ok, when I looked it up, it pulled up that it was an exclusive. Thanks for correcting me.
Either way though, aion will not die from FFXIV...

final fantasy 14
diablo 3
starcraft 2
No room for Aion online im afraid
I agree with this.
I thing though, with so many good MMOs wont they be spreading the community thin? Will devs be ok with 100-300k subs only?
WoW was a fluke, if you take WoW out of the picture the average sub number of every MMO since UO has been around 150K+.
Can these devs deal with that or will they be blinded by blizzards freak of nature and close a game down because of it?

FFXI is also the second highest Sub MMO in the P2p market behind WoW.
Its a proven game and in no way could the best game Sub wise behind WoW be considered the average.
