Would an Underworld MMO work?

I'm a huge fan of the movies, and was thinking that an MMO with Human, Lycan and Vampire factions could be fun. Particularly if during various PVP scenarios in the game, the Human players can run the risk of possibily being 'turned' to either vampire or Lycan, (if the human loses in PvP and the say a Vampire or Lycan has their 'bite/turn' skill available for use on the unconscious Human).

I don't know how well a game like that would do?

Classes wise I know a lot of folk that need to have magic spells etc would be sorely disappointed, but perhaps a skill based/attribute driven system would work better.

The PvP could be intense, hunt and chase, type fun. Or better yet imagine story driven PvP where one of the immortal factions learn that the other faction is pursuing turning a Human NPC(s). The Human PC's would obviously want to defend the NPC, whereas both Lycan and Vampire PC's are pursuing the NPC, resulting in a triple threat faction battle! Outcomes of these PvP scenarios could alter the storyline of all of the characters that participated in the battle (Only the first run through that encounter would be recorded for your characters storyline)

Setting: With the movies jumping through different timelines, I don't see why a game couldn't do the same thing, or even allow you to choose Medieval, modern or future settings at character creation....

I think a story driven, skill based hybrid of a game just might work...   Maybe?

    Sure why not?

Vampires Vs Werewolves have always been popular imo.

Good faction pvp, would need to be skill based since I don't think you would get many classes out of those two lol.

Could even do pve content like that scenario i the first movie in the train station and sewer.

    Sign me up lol

    Playing: EvE, Ryzom

I believe there is a white wolf MMO already in the works. I wager that should be close enough.

We had something like that in Dark Eden - PvP-based game between humans and vampires, plus you would turn into a vampire if you didn't heal from that bite you got last night ;)

Although that game is graphically outdated.

It would be interesting to see a game in which you constantly switch sides because of an eventual bite or purification, heh.

I am not familiar with this, so I searched it, and that announcement about World of Darkness was 2007, and the game name does ring a bell.. I thought that project died?

I just like the Underworld story, and think that in a game setting from the Medieval times, to modern and even futuristic it could be a good story driven game, but for the sand box folks it would likely need to be done in a way that at times you have to 'discover' a storyline to follow.

You are right about Dark Eden, it's graphically dated... Never tried it, it didn't seem story driven to me, but I know little of the title.
