KatillaKatilla Member UncommonPosts: 829

ok heres what to do if you get the gameguard error in windows 7

- Install whatever game you want.

- Install the game Crossfire.

- Delete the GameGuard.des file from your game which is not working properly.

- Replace it with the GameGuard.des file installed with Crossfire.

- Run your game and it should work fine.

- Remove Crossfire if you do not want it wasting space.

above is the link to the crossfire game.

just tested it with Aion NA beta for this weekend cause i was having the GG issue all in squiggly japanese or something, and it said gameguard amidst the nonsense

When I've been using it for over a year and 99% of the programs and games I install on it work as intended with no "tweaks" or "workarounds" needed AND the official release is 4 months away, yes. Burn the ones who can't manage to plan ahead and will instead be scrambling to fix it in patches 4 months from now for thousands of angry customers.

    Lol some people are funny.

Complaining because a beta game cant be installed on a near beta os. Check out what the word beta means.

These forums are truly full of retards.

No, the idiots who paid for Vista got the beta.  Windows 7 is more stable than any Windows OS to date, including XP.

I know what beta means. It's what the morons paying for Darkfall are playing.

Oh, and that "retard" thing? Don't beat yourself up. You can still be a productive little eunuch.

Are you stupid? Windows 7 is truly in beta.

Even though many people got the rc version its still not a release version, but a release candidate. Beta is not an insult that is only to be used when describing shit games like aoc and df.

DIctionnary, are not just a paperweight try looking up what beta means bitch

While in "beta" phase, it is in a release ready state ( hence its "release candidate" status ). And through personal experience, I can say it is of release quality, regardless of its "beta' status. I do know what "beta" means. You, however, should take up remedial English courses to strengthen your reading comprehension skills, of which you apparently have none.

Just because I don't agree with having to fix crappy useless third-party programs like Gameguard ourselves when there are devs being paid to make sure stuff is compatible, it doesn't take away from the fact you were just trying to help people. I'm sorry for not at least giving you kudos for that in my original post.

If you read the install notes on that page, you'll notice it says it will only work on 64 bit systems, not 32 bit.

alright, I broke down and did as the OP suggested. downloaded, installed, and updated Crossfire. Replaced the Gameguard.des in Aion folder with the one from Crossfire.

When I load up Aion, i get the blue screen of death every time.

    Problem signature:

    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen

    OS Version: 6.1.7100.2.0.0.256.1

    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:

    BCCode: 1000008e

    BCP1: C0000005

    BCP2: 98F61400

    BCP3: 9BDDB980

    BCP4: 00000000

    OS Version: 6_1_7100

    Service Pack: 0_0

    Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:

    C:WindowsMinidump60409-26062-01.dmp

    C:UsersMeAppDataLocalTempWER-78968-0.sysdata.xml

Funny thing is, I get the blue screen with both Aion and Crossfire. So now Gameguard is crashing my comp. And people wonder why I don't like this stupid useless shit.

So that's a beta key wasted, a 2 day test is not worth trying to jury-rig stuff to work. Uninstalled and forgotten.

Right RC is so close to being perfect that the upgrade process doesnt work on some versions of the 64 bit vista, and on quite a few laptops that have non cookie cutter cards the nvidia drivers dont work and cause blue screens.

Windows 7 is not of release quality yet, I dont even know why we are having this conversation since msot people will agree that playing a beta on a near beta os= at your own risk.

Since we've already derailed this thread, might as well continue.

First, 64 bit Vista has had problems all it's short hell-spawned life. So the fact it causes problems for upgrading is not a surprise to anyone. Frankly, anyone with computer experience backs up their files and does a clean install of an OS, they don't "upgrade" anyway. But regardless, it's a 64 bit Vista issue, not 7's.

Second, if the card is made by Nvidia and the driver is made by Nvidia and the driver doesn't work, how is that the OS fault? Sounds like an Nvidia issue to me.

I would love to blame Microsoft for this, but the fact is that Gameguard is a POS and you are going to have to disable important security features of your OS designed to prevent Rootkits from being installed in order for it to work.

Yeah, I stopped short of disabling anything. I've had enough problems with Gameguard in the past to jst say the hell with it.

Aye, I get the exact same error as well, and the 'fix' just throws me to a BSOD.  This is why I hate GameGuard.  Such a crappy program that people crack and hack through all the time I have no idea why NCSoft is using it with Aion.

I'm assuming then, that you have the 64-bit version of Windows 7, as it seems the 64-bit version is said to work flawlessly without having to do anything to original files to get games to work.

Can I have your key if you're not using it?  I've got a non beta OS that I paid for on my computer, and would love to give Aion a shot this weekend.  Thanks / G

And I have a non-beta OS that I paid for that has sat on it's shelf for over a year. And no, since the key was already added to my NCsoft account, you can't have it.

I'm getting the Error 114 on Vista, so it ain't just Windows 7 that is borked.

I am playing the Chinese retail version on windows 7 x64, it has worked fine out of the box. No need for a patch or anything.
