Game guard 114 error
Hey to everyone who was lucky enough to get a Aion closed beta key!
I'm guessing a large portion of those people have already DLed aion and are patiently waiting for June 5 - I'm pretty excited myself, except on big blemish: GAMEGUARD. After waiting 10 hours or so ( I was at school most of the time so it doesn't count, perhaps 4 hours than), I finally get the game downloaded. However, once downloaded I start to load if up only to be face to face with some sort of annoying error.
It's a Gameguard 114 error, followed by a bunch of gibberish. I tried turnning off my firewall which didn't work at all, does anyone else have the same issue or know of a solution?

If you're using Windows 7 32bit, then I hate to say it, but you're SOL, friend was going to play with me but there are no fixes atm for windows 32 and gameguard

I am also having this problem. I am using norton's latest internet security, window's vista 32bit, I have tryed 1. all firewalls off 2. turning everthing off in norton. 3. comp restart 4. pluging directly into the modem. .... next pls.
From Gameguards own site, a 114 error is frequently caused by collisions with anti-virus software and it can be broken by windows updates or any other running program. They recommend that you shut down all applications while it's running, including security processes!
A quote from their own FAQ "Some functions of GameGuard could be blocked due to system over protection" - in other words, while their program is running they expect you to leave your PC open to attack. Personally I won't touch a game that installs a rootkit, especially one as fragile as this. Anything that hides itself on my PC, doesn't have an uninstall option and gives itself the right to shut down any system process that it doesn't like is dangerous in my book.
I only get the 114 error when I have Lineage II open. Perhaps this error tells you that an other gameguard is already running?

It's a great and horrible thing, on one hand I'm glad to know it's not only me with the error, on the other hand, we all have the same error and can't seem to find a solution...
My question is IF there is a solution? (Other than turning off firewall since I've already tried that).
My problem was solved simply by running the aion short cut with the "run as administrater" right click option. I had allready done so with the installer I guess I just forgot about the game client.
when I tried that for some reason my Nc soft launcher "denied" me o.O!
It may have denied you becuase it was still loaded in the background somehow. Try rebooting to clear everything out then running it again as an administrator.

I have exactly the same problem. Error 114 and still haven't found a solution.
I tried all possible solutions which I found with google, but nothing helped... very sad thing. :-(

You need to replace the gameguard.des file in the bin32 folder with an updated version. You can find this file all over the web. Taking the gameguard.des from the Chinese Aion version also works.
Here is a DL link for just the Gameguard.des file from Crossfire! It worked for me, how about you?
Try this one, from the same thread linked above, so you don't have to install Crossfire!

/edit: Fixed it... I ran the Launcher as Admin and suddenly everything was ok... oO ... I'm an idiot... but thanks for the help. ^^

Not sure how it happened by today I ran it as administrator, and suddenly...everything worked! Thank you everyone for your help =D!
I have tried everything, i replace the gameguard.des file, it downloads the 5 updates, then sits for about 1-2mins and then pops another error 114...iam at a lost and about to call it., i have windows 7 64bit, I think i got this to work for TCOS when i tried it but it does not seem to be working for AION , i guess no AION for me this weekend =(

Nope, works fine for several people on 32bit also.
It probably depends on the gameguard.des file version you are using.
Anyway, it's not only an Aion US/EU problem. All of the games with an outdated gameguard versions have the same problem.
I'm having the same issue, but upon further reseach it might be due to the fact that it is not yet noon PST and that the servers in our areas might be down/off still.

It IS an Aion US/EU problem in this instance. NCsoft chose Gameguard, so NCsoft are responsible to make sure Gameguard is current and compatible with their game. And there has been more than enough visibility of this matter that NCsoft should have a nice big "here's the gameguard patch" thread with download on their beta forums.

Gamegaurd has issues with Windows 7. Remember Windows 7 is still in beta prerelease.
Advice: installed Windows Vista and wait for Windows 7 to be released before trying to run it.
