A Proposal for this message board

Can we have two "main" forums?  One would be for people who have come to hate the genre in its current state.  They can vent there all they want.  The other "main" forum would be for people who essentually enjoy the genre and still have fun playing the current games.  The two camps dont seem to have much constructive to say to each other.

Can we do that?

Many people in the Off-topic forums don't play MMO anymore. There is no prerequisite to play MMO, to like MMO, or to have an opinion on either to post here and it should stay that way I think.

There's a site suggestion section too, so your post will probably be moved there.

There are people who don't play, like, or have an opinion on MMORPGs who post on this forum?  That seems a bit ridiculous.

Yes, like I said, many players don't play MMO anymore or have taken a break (myself included), some don't have an opinion about MMO but are just looking for info and some have stopped liking the genre completely.

I don't think it's good to put those people into one "section" like the OP is suggesting. It's a free forum, you are free to speak your mind about MMO and as long as you do it respectfully, everyone will let you.

To be honost that is a stupid proposol, reason THIS IS A FORUM.

 

If you want what you say you want better start visiting dedicated fanmade forums of specific games.

Sure I hate many type of topics, but that's the way of public forums, but regardless of that it's still nice/entertaining/informative to see other people's opinions, even if they don't match with mine.

So no we do not need 2 camps as that would be foolish on a public forum.

I dont think they will make seperate forums for 'Pro and anti'. When it comes down to it, its that conflist which drives the discussion. If all the posts in a thread are 'Me too' ...what good is that.

HOwever, I suppose they could set up an icon system that marks a thread as inheritly PRO or CON such thats its easily identified in the list

A decent Idea and it works when you think about it, but when implemented in the real world it will just cause what history has provided us. When we seperate people of two different opinions/backgrounds/any difference it just cause a 'we're better than you' mentality and worse things are created by the seperation.

 

Although you can also come up with the argument that if people are seperated from their differeneces then they never have to witness them and they are happy in their little bubble but again when implemented something always goes wrong.

 

Devils advocate is always present on these forums! =P

Actually, even if haters had their own section, they would still post here. It's never the same thing for them if they don't get the opportunity to "enlighten" everyone on how the MMORPG genre is going to die next month.

What is the purpose of any board but to discuss ALL views, not the ones you select.

I think better would be an old school section. Seems most of the furore is basically old school vs new school type thing.

Im not saying people shouldnt discuss what they want.  Im just proposing a structure where the conversation can be a win/win for everyone.
