Why Are Conservatives So Mean?

frodusfrodus Member Posts: 2,396

If you listen to the MSM or the Left in this country, you always hear how mean and selfish Conservatives are. We do not want to help the poor or various other inane reasons why we hate Black people and people less fortunate. well, if you really want to know, Conservative is the best thing for all. Free Markets and Liberty will always lead to a more prosperous country. But if you look at what the MSM and Left, the only way you can get happiness is through the government. This is the antithesis of what our country was founded on. Individualism and Federalism were some of the main foundations of that Document that the Left think is a living document.

Each state would be its own entity and the Federal government would be there to protect the states. Now the hand of the Federal Government is in our every day life and the Supreme Court has allowed the Commerce Clause to be used in ways the Founding Fathers never thought it should be used. We have the Federal Government telling states that they will get money for projects if they jump through hoops to get them.

Somewhere along the way, the United States of America has lost its way and we need to get it back on track. As in this video we see the Soft Tyranny poking its head into our country.

I would board the Conservative train if they booted the religious people off. I have more in common with their views than liberal views.

Damn right!  It's about time the state governments got the chance to interfere in your daily life!  Why should the federal government tell you what to do when you have perfectly good state government right next door.

Let's make sure they're republicans too because, as the Lord our Savior Jesus Christ will tell you, republicans never try to force their beliefs on anybody!

Yes, because if there's anything non-conservative are against, it's "free markets and liberty." We'd all rather live in a quasi-communist state where we send people to death camps.

Because I trust the Federal Government more than I trust the Massachusetts State Government.

Seriously. Ted Kennedy and John Kerry have been in office for longer than anyone can remember, and nobody likes them. Our former state Rep (Sal Damacy) just resigned back in January, and is now guilty of several accounts of corruption in the state legislature. Spending is creeping up, money goes places nobody knows the fuck where, and all the elected officials have a club house going on, and they choose the next elected officials, not us.

MA is full of lose. Until the day where I can no longer legitimately make that statement, nor back it up with fact, will I believe in, and want small government. It is the *only* Libertarian view that I do not hold.

And what happens when some southern state votes in madatory church on sundays for everyone?  Just laugh and go....oh well, states rights.

I'm sure having to lower their tax profiles by donating to charities has absolutely nothing to do with that. :P Sure.

The average Republican makes more than most other parties, so they have more income to shelter.

While the partisan gap in personal evaluations has not widened noticeably in recent years (after a brief enlargement in 2005), it remains significant. That is, again, unsurprising given that Republicans are, on average, significantly better off financially than either Democrats or Independents. About one-in-three Republicans (32%) in recent Pew surveys has an annual income above $75,000, compared with 22% of Democrats and 25% of independents. By the same token 60% of Republicans rate their personal financial situation as good or excellent, compared with only 40% of Democrats and 45% of independents.

For Republicans as a group, regressions show that the most important external drivers of views about the national economy are jobs and, well behind, inflation. For Democrats, the rank order is inflation, jobs, home heating/energy costs and interest rates; for Independents, jobs again lead the list followed by inflation, gasoline prices, home heating/energy costs, and interest rates.

Most Republicans don't seem to worry much about real life issues such as home heating, gas prices, energy costs.. you know.. the things most people need to live on. I'm curious as to why.

Probably hard to give to charity when you are worried about heating your house and having enough gas money to get to work, I guess.

Conservatives are all about freedom...well unless you're talking about equal rights for homosexuals, abortion, what is taught in schools and other private social issues ofcourse, because we can't let you have control over your life obviously.

The average christian conservative is nothing more then a paradox.

They will preach about the peaceful and loving message of christ, but they stand at the front to support wars and gun ownership.

They will talk of freedom and liberty but will vote to ban anything that goes against their own personal moral code.

I'm a non-religious conservative who is pro-choice.  I don't think anybody expects every person in either of the major parties to conform completely to the stereotypes.

Conservatives of today are mean because they're run by a bunch of religious zealots.  And these religious folks have no interest in freedom or liberty.  They're only intent in voting is to force their will on others through legislation.  They want nothing of American interests like small government, fair taxation (or no taxation), equal justice, or protection of privacy.

That's why they're mean.  They've joined the ideological ranks of big government liberals.

    Qft.

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

And right on cue from Friday with Gingrinch and Huckabee stirring up a church meeting in Virginia, lol:

Huckbee and Gingrich razzle-dazzle Christians at Rock Church

Huckabee told the audience he was disturbed to hear President Barack Obama say during his speech in Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday that one nation shouldn't be exalted over another.

"I think this is one of the most critical moments in American history," Gingrich said. "We are living in a period where we are surrounded by paganism."

"The notion that we are just one of many among equals is nonsense," Huckabee said. The United States is a "blessed" nation, he said, calling American revolutionaries' defeat of the British empire "a miracle from God's hand."

Hmm.. I never thought of the French military as a "miracle from God's hand", but Huckabee seems to think so, lol. Priceless stuff that will continue to make sure they keep certain small Southern states, and nothing else.

These guys just don't learn, do they?

No, no they don't. Then they complain on C-Span interviews that they just can't figure out what the problem is.

Dude, for a liberal, you listen to Rush a lot. Back when I "believed" in the D v R game, I still never had listen to that guy.

But then again, he has been making some noise this year so maybe he's getting the attention he's looking for? Which is the other Republican problem. Even some Republicans wish he would shut up.

    Good find.

Seriously, why the hell would it matter if we were surrounded by satanists even?  As long as they keep they're hands out of my paycheck, let me live my life and make my own decisions, and be confident that I can get equal treatment under the law, I really don't care about anything else.

What's Gingrich's plan?  To use the government to forcefully convert everyone.  F*ck him!

You use him as an insult to bait others. I've seen it in a lot of posts. The same as you call them 21%ers.

I wasn't suppose to post that yet. I had more to say, but meh.

I didn't even mention Rush above. I didn't mention Rush in the entire thread. I didn't say "21%er" in this entire thread. No one in the thread said "Rush" until you did just now. So the question is.. what are you doing?

    ?

This is a political thread. Restructuruing information to suit one's own perceptions or preference is pretty much the bread and butter of politics.

And boy isn't it a blast.

And by blast I mean incredibly irritating.

They're mean because when given the option to protect the rights of a group of people, they instead choose to pass laws to limit rights.

And the ironic thing is they call themselves "Religious Conservatives".  What they really mean is "OUR Brand of Religion Conservative".  Because if your church doesn't follow the same rules as their religious majority then they are going to use the government to block  you out from equal representation under the law.

In other words, they're using the government as a tyrannical weapon.  And they're tyrannical leader is their version of God.

Am I the only one who still believes that the mixing of religion and politics is just a horrible thing, in any condition?

I believe this as well. And so does Jesus. He told Christians that they were to be IN this world, but not OF this world. Yet you constantly see this happening with these groups trying to run the world.

It's ironic that while they are claiming to be biblical, they are extremely unbiblical. Politics and religion don't mix except in the Vatican City and Mecca. :)
