i am building a computer for aion which is a bit more demanding than wow.
price range 600-700
i want to get a gtx260 because newegg has them around 150-200, but im not sure which kind of processor would be my best bet for the money in order to power a card like that. i have been looking at motherboard/ CPU combos.
also am i going to need a 64 bit operating system if i get a video card like the gtx 260?
any information would be greatly appreciated and links to affordable computer parts would be awesome thanks
also if you know about the game aion and the system requirements let me know if i even need to get a computer like this.... thanks

OS has nothing to do with your video card. besides needing them to be xp or higher. As for the rest of the stuff you asked, i basically answered the same thing in another thread on the front page with similar questions. so check there, same advice pretty much applies.

Are you able to use any old parts from your current PC? Hard drive, case, psu, monitor, etc? Or do you need everything for $600. If you are recycling some of those pieces it can save a lot of money.
As for your OS, 32 bit Windows can access ~3.2gb or (4gb - video RAM - overhead) whichever is lower. The GTX 260 has 896MB of ram and there could be up to 100mb overhead for the rest of the system so if you use a 32bit OS you'll be down to 3gb max. There is no reason not to use the 64bit version of Windows.
Aion uses a modified CryEngine used in Farcry so if you look at any benchmarks, look at the results for any version of Farcry (not Crysis, which actually uses CryEngine 2) and that should put you in the ballpark for Aion. CryEngine apparently prefers graphics cards with lots of memory and the performance seems to be 4870 1GB > GTX 260 > 4870 512MB. Since the 4870 1GB is the same price as a GTX 260 I would suggest that card but you would do fine with either. (benchmark)
It also performs quite well on the cheap Phenom II X3 720 (here and here) provided DDR3 ram.
My suggestion would be:
Phenom II X3 720 ($140)
ECS A790GXM-AD3 mobo (supports Crossfire) ($110)
Radeon 4870 1gb ($170)
4GB DDR3-1333 (OCZ/Corsair/Mushkin/etc) ($60)
600-650W quality PSU (Corsair/OCZ)($80-$90)
640gb 7200 rpm Seagate or WD HD ($70)
Some case ($40)
$670
If you already own Vista 32 you can use that key to install Vista 64, also you can grab Win7 from Microsoft free and use it till next year if you want to save money currently. If you prefer an Intel CPU the Q8200 at $170 is probably their best price/performance for Farcry's engine.
If you are positive you will never pair the video card you can get a cheaper $80 Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P mobo and $60 550W PSU as well, or if you get a GTX 260 and want SLI as an option you'll need to pick a different mobo that supports SLI.
