I've Just ran out of darkfall subscription and instead of re subbing wanted to think witch game I really wanted to play.
I tried a DDO trial
LOTRO trial
and have my wow account
Lets me explain I have played wow for 4 years and am I pvp player in it. PvP has gone downhill since since WOTLK came out and I'm completely burned out of wow I hate looking at it it gives me a headache but I almost feel I have to play it for lack of anything better.
Darkfall. Since people have started macroing skills all night and hitting afk players grouped at a wall for hours on end just to be competitive at pvp it has ruined the game for me. What's the point of my enemy has to hit me with his sword 5 times and I have to hit him 13 times? Where is the player skill in that? You realise if he loses he should be shot IRL?
I tried a DDO trial never played this game before, I really like the graphics and community and the combat is pretty cool also sort of like wow meets darkfall pretty neat.
However the server populations don't seem great and there are NO quests that are go and kill/collect/find this its just go to this dungeon. I'm level 4 in DDO and already I find I have to repeat the same dungeons at least 5 times each to level onto the next set. I can only imagine that gets worse as the grind gets bigger. Sure some of the dungeons are cool and the traps etc. are great but do I really have to do each one so many times?
LOTRO after playing DDO I thought LOTRO might run on my pc they use the same engine AFAIK. Well I tweaked it and get about 40 FPS with Post processing effects on sometimes dipping to 25 but should be playable in raids later in the game right?
The community is also awesome the graphics are jaw dropping the immersion is pretty cool the game is just amazing but lord.
What the hell is up with the combat I mean I key bind my moves and its like 222222222222222 OK he did the attack 3333333333333 (5 second later) he did the attack. I want to hit the button once and watch my char do the move instantly not wait around.
its horrible because aside from the combat the game is 10/10 when I play a game like that the pvp is not important, I mean lotro is the only game I would seriously consider RPing on. because the lore graphics and community are so awesome.
So the finalise.
Stick with darkfall and hope AV make skills less important. have to turn my sound card off and drop a resolution just to push 25 FPS in a siege and get my ass handed to me with no hope in hell of outplaying my opponent just because he has weapon mastery.
Go back to wow farming BG's aimlessly for no real reward hate myself for playing it and wait 1 month until I hit breaking point with it again.
Play DDO in hope I don't have to do the same dungeons over and over and hope grouping is easier as I level up.
Play lotro and hope somehow I learn to like the combat (cant see that happening I'm level 15 atm is it going to get much better for my burglar?)
Please help me decide guys

Im in the same boat you are kinda. But im thinking about giving Lotro a try sence ive never played it, only thing im worried about with lotro is I love pvp and the game just doesnt have it.
Other then Lotro, my only options are reactive my AoC account or War account, which I dont wont to do eather.

Given those choices, I would play Darkfall.
I'd play WOW and be hopeful that MO delivers what DFO didn't.
Give Vanguard a try. It has decent graphics and the combat is way more interesting. PvP is kinda meh, since I hear the PvP server is fairly a gankfest when ANYONE is on there.
The PvE servers have been fairly popular as of late. You can do a trial version which is really interesting as well for free.
Personally, if you have the stomache for it. Just stick with all of the trials and different things until the new list of games come out around the end of summer. I mean get out and play in the RW for a couple of weeks and there are a whole slew of new stuff comming out. Jumpgate Evolution, Fallen Earth, Champions Online. just to name a few.

Or go back to DF until MO. Im in the same place as you are. I dont macro or AFK "grind".
