Animations?

Hi all

I was in BETA testing for VG, left about 2 months after release, came back a couple of times. The one issue I have is with the stiff character animations overall, especially when running.

I understnd they changed the character models, but have the animations been changed? Would a human race toon now run "properly" and in a more fluid motion pattern?

Thank you

I played this game till a couple months ago until they slammed full RMT onto this game.

And no, they have not updated the horrible animations and are not planning to, as they don't have the resources to do it. As had been said in an official statement a while ago.

    Cheers

Been playing for a couple of months now and I think the animations are actually very good. The only problem I have is with the jump animation. It's such a small and inconsequential gripe that I feel stupid complaining about it to be honest, but every time I jump it just looks.....camp (for want of a better word!)

Other than that though I've had no problems with the animations seeming "stiff", they all seem pretty fluid. That being said though I guess this will all come down to personal taste in the end.

The character models have been improved and over time they have improved some of the animations.  Running and swimming animations are still pretty blah... but many of the class combat animations are very, very good, especially melee and monk, disciple types.

As some others posted earlier, it really boils down to taste. Most of the animations look fine to me. Some of the races look a bit stiff for me. I'm playing a lesser giant, and the only animation that bothers me is the swimming one. Couple the animation with the ability to swim a few inches higher in the water than physics allows is kind of annoying. If I don't need to go underwater for a quest, then I'll just cast Cloudwalk and run across the water. Heh.

When I first started playing VG, the animations and toon models were different from most other MMOs I've played. With a few exceptions, I've become used to them now.

    Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN

To me it's more the spell effects that sort of suck.  They're really not very exciting or powerful looking.

I can live with the animations if they would just make the world look more "magical".

But overall, I am a fan of this game.  I just wish they would put more resources on it.

Maybe they can pull some resources from EQ and EQII over.  VG really could replace them both if they were to put some real effort into it.

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.
