Overclocking my processor
So I recently bought a Core 2 Duo E8500 3.14 ghz processor. Im trying to overclock it. I have a P5Q Deluxe motherboard, but I cant find any programs that support it.
I have tried Easytune6 and Ai booster and they are not supported. What programs could I get to overclock the processor that actually work?

P5Q? Is that an ASUS board? If so, you should just be overclocking through your bios by upping your clock speed and bus speeds. Depending on your cooling, you should easily be able to hit 4+ghz
step gradually though dont try and get highest straight away. make sure you got a damn good heatsink as things get hot hot hot
case fans help too, the bigger the quieter.
go to above website for info though, and on an asus board bios clocking is easiest
if you go to http://event.asus.com/mb/p5q/ precision tweaker 2 software seems to be compatible with this board

It's REALLY easy. Just take it nice and slow, a small step at a time.
Before I go into details, do you know how to get into the Bios?
Its easy but not fun. Always a drag on time, slowly incrementing up until you reach a fail to boot or over temperature. Then adjusting a different value until you get the best combination while doing stability tests.

If you have never been in a computer bios before, you probably should not overclock.
But in case you really want to, I suggest you start researching 1st before asking questions, I can write a whole book about overclocking, but there have been people before me who have already done that.
The P5Q is an excellent Asus motherboard that allows you to overclock well.
Overclocking CPU, FSB and RAM is normally only done in the Bios.
The CPU you got is good too, so if you have a good cooler, from coolermaster, zalman, or another good brand, you can start overclocking once you have done your research.
Thing is, if you hardly know what a bios is, you probably never done a bios update either, and you should get to know a bit more about computers 1st.

^^ This,you could give yourself so many problems.
If you really want to overclock it then get someone that has done it before through bios or you could be asking for alot of problems.

So I did some research like you guys said..
And I generally know what I am doing, but I dont really know what "too much" is. What generally means your overclocking it to much? It was a 3.14 ghz processor, and I overclocked it to somewhere around 4.0 ghz.. Is that too much?
Also, I upgraded to Vista SP2 then started overclocking. After I finished all this, I went into the Welcome Screen thing in Vista. It says that the amount of ram I have is 3.2 gigs. But I know it was saying 4 gigs before I upgraded to sp2 and overclocked. Anyone else notice this?

Already was using vista 32 bit, just upgraded it to SP2. Asus p5Q MB and intel core 2 duo processor. I use air cooling but I have a lot of fans.
