Carebear mmos... die.

I cant stand em, all those fucking carebear mmorpgs... is it a game if theres no REAL competition and goal?

Wheres the thrill of killing players if nothing happens? i remember killing hundreds of players in Lineage 2 JUST to get hunted and nearly losing my gear; feeling the adrenaline pump as i had 1% hp and barely getting out of range from the other archers with my gear i had earned over the months on stake.

Im gonna try to leave L2 again... but i need a game more hardcore (as in grind, death penalities and/or dropping upon death), L2 is getting way to carebear (imo) and is taking in many of wows ideas about how a game should work.

Anyone knows a game with good pvp, about as open as L2 with politics and open world etc? Tried TCoS and i nearly went to take my life... DLing AoC atm to try the PVP out.

Is PotBS any good for example?

Do certain games really need to stop existing because you don't like them?

Anyway, try Darkfall, it might have what you're looking for.

There really is a void in pvp based games these days.  Lets call it the EQ-ication of mmorpgs.  I do at least.  I say that because pvp should be pvp, it shouldn't require some large amount of pve in order to compete.  There really are very few, if any pvp games that exist in a decent manner in regards to mmorpgs.  Sure there are some great ones if you care to invest a few weeks into pve in order to get capped, then several more weeks of getting rolled to get the pvp xp / gear / etc needed to be competitive.  But even DF doesn't deliver on good action from day one of play from what I hear.

Anyway, I like to play both, but I don't like it when the are both intertwined.  The only exception having been DAOC and old pre-CU SWG.  Those are two games that did pvp and did it well in combination with pve.  EVE Online is a great game that just doesn't do pvp as well as others would make you believe anymore.  Sure, it used to be great to roam around and do some killing, but that has pretty much disappeared except in very select areas and times if you are lucky.
