I think the races will be a tad different,probably changing the names of the classes entirely.I tend to play all races ,as each offers something different to game play and the different jobs.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I always played Hume but if I could play a male Mithra then I would consider that too.
I always played Galka but If I could play male Mithra, hell yeah I'd go that route
I hope this time round at the least all races have male & female varients, mmo's need to cut the crap with not wanting to make the models & images for all and making up weak "a-sexual" or "working at home" lore excuses. But even if they don't, I'm still going to play this....god I hope its as amazing as it is building up to be.
I liked Hume in FFXI. I thought they looked pretty decent and had good animations. I disliked Tarus because they were so small, well I loved Tarus , just not playing them. Galkas were just too big and ugly for me. I don't wanna play a cat so mithra was a no go and Elvaan seemed to tall and goofy to me so I wasn't left with much choice. I will probably play Hume again unless there are some new races yet to be revealed (hopes).
Gender didn't matter, but Hume was important. I wanted to play everything with good proficiency whenever I desired, and the Hume delivered in FFXI. I expect no different in FFXIV.
I am definately decided on Viera (has been mentioned somewhere that this race might be coming to 14 because of how many people suggested it for 11 (once 12 had come out obv) but if not then a Gria is my indefinite choice =]
I'm going to play hume male as long as it's similar to how it was in XI. I have trouble sticking with one class, so a race that has average stats will be really nice.
