Old player, may be coming back

I am either going to be playing Everquest or Planetside.... not sure which yet I just had several questions... I started playing about when they released PoP and kept playing into Discord but after that I unsubbed..... anyway....

 

1. I've heard there are mercs now.... are there mercs of every class?

2. How much do the mercs cost? I read in one thread loot should cover the cost or something but.... still I want to know how easy it would be to get enough to get one.

3. Is there a sever with a high population?

4. Is the PvP server now pretty much useless/dead?

5. I've heard things such as leveling from 1-50 in a matter of hours?....

6. How easy is it to get decent gear while leveling?... I will never be raiding though not a fan.

7. Are all classes good soloers now?

8. I think I can get all expansions for about.... 30 bucks or so in some big package can someone confirm this?

9. Can you now level AA at any level? or is it starting at 50 or 51?

Oh and this is kinda asked in the leveling section but... as a whole does this game take less of a time investment? My time is more valuable to me now than it used to be so I don't want to be consumed by EQ again.
