Petitions Petitions (Tabula Rasa)

RenkovRenkov Member Posts: 13

Hello! Lets skip the pleasantries of introductions for now and cut to the point. Don't mistake me for an overly optimistic fool/fanboy. In a sense, am little of both but I'm no optimist.

www.petitionspot.com/petitions/reopenRGTR This petition has... well, a small chance at the most. I know I may regret making this thread but I know I'd regret not making it more.

So, those who played it, and loved it, SIGN IT. You don't have to register, there's a video by the one who made petition: www.youtube.com/watch <- there, who walks you through most of the process after you click the petition link. (no flames please)

I know about the reviews and some more vocal player opinions out there about Tabula Rasa, not being exactly favorable. And some points they make are justified. But the game was vastly improved shortly before the closure announcement along with many patches during the time after announcement as the greatly cut-down development team continued to support and release patches for the game up until the closure when the grand majority of teams would of just kept the game chugging along.

Those who know and have played the game, will agree that TR was not your average MMO. For once, it had guns! Right before the announcement they revamped the camera system and implemented first person perspective (FPS MMORPG!!) and sniper scopes! Enemies weren't just different modeled versions of the enemy with different amounts of health. Some gun (or sword, or staff) worked on some enemies, but not all. Your gun might kill this one, but the other might be immune to that damage or effect, making combat more, well, interesting and immersive.

www.youtube.com/watch Here's a video of the gameplay right before the shutdown. (the video might be pretty dark to some people)

Note that though the UI wasn't exactly the most scalable, you could turn off a lot of the things. Damage indicators (the floating numbers), health bars, names. You could even toggle and set just how sticky your aim was (you could be as sticky as shown or you could turn stickyness off completely making it more twitch shooter).

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask (on topic please) and I will try to answer them to the best of my abilities.

Thank you.

PS: Tell your friends :)

EDIT: Fixed the gameplay link. Sorry about that, a slight error in the URL.

I clicked your link to the gameplay, and it was some women sitting in a bathtub.  LOL.  If this is a true depiction of the game as it was right before closing down then I'm sorry I wasn't there to 'sample' the new gameplay.  :)

    ^ lol

Even if I hate a game I'm still all for it staying alive for those that enjoy it. I hated Tabula Rasa but good luck with the petition. Though I rather they revamp Tabula Rasa and then rerelease it, perhaps with a different name or something. I think that would have a better chance than trying to bring this back... Though I don't think they need to just throw out all the code. It was playable at least.

While I doubt that it will do anything, I figured that it couldn't hurt anything either, so I signed the petition.

Personally, I think they gave up on the game too soon.  I'd like to see them bring this back with a new F2P model.

I'd love for TR to come back simply because I thought the gameplay was great.

However, they completely neglected adding things for level 50 players. There was literally nothing to do for OVER  HALF  A  YEAR besides do some imbalanced and pointless PvP that was all but dead after the mass PvP clan exodus in month three of the games release.

I was a subscriber to TR so I would love for it to come back, a few changes could be made as I would love for the auto-lock to be removed and the FP View update to come.

I mentally file Tabula Rasa under the category of missed opportunity.

It was a good game, it was just released too early and made the ultimate in MMO sins; it failed to undertake any measure to retain subscriptions. As has already been said, the lack of level 50 content killed the game for the PVE crowd and the utterly meaningless and unrewarding nature of the player vs player combat ensured a swift death amongst the PVP crowd too.

Could it have been a great game? Absolutely.

Unfortunately, it was abandoned by the developers a long time before the servers were shut down. I think its most valuable contribution to the genre is to remain as it is; a warning to developers that players will only stick around if they make an effort to give us something fun and rewarding to stick around for.

Oh I see.  They waited until right before it closed to release The Miracle Patch and to put forth their mightiest effort.  Woe, let us lament the fact that so few lucky souls indulged in The Greatness That Could Have Been... 'lo, had we only seen the The Miracle Patch for ourselves, had we but witnessed their sweat and their hard work, then surely we, too, would becry the injustice of our great loss!

    ....Lolromancy.  Your petition spell fizzles!

A TR 2 would be cooler but I'm not clicking the link as I don't believe it's real either a bug or some joke but *shrug*

When someone comes up with a petition to have Richard Garriott inarcerated for fraud and being a general fruitcake I will be the first one to sign it.

NCSoft does not support games that make less then $1 million/month.  That is there level of dedication to quality.  I would imagine they don't want to release the game in an Open Source nature since it will be both competition, and they want to re-use the engine.  The engine for Tabula Rasa is extremely advanced and can be redone for future projects.  Most of those devs were moved to NC West were they are probably working on Guild Wars 2.  I think NCSoft made the wise decision in closing a mildly successful mmo in the attempts to make another blockbuster.

www.youtube.com/watch Here's a working link, sorry about that. A slight error in the URL.

Well, as you might of read, I didn't make this petition. I just picked it up and toss is around. I don't have nearly any hope for it either but, beats sitting with my thumb up my ass.

EDIT: also, two pages? Already? *suspicion*
