I enjoy playing the healing role the most. I was wondering what games out there might have more interesting healing mechanics or systems.
I've played WoW, WAR and a bit of AoC. WoW and WAR seem nearly identical mechanics wise to me. Basically wathcing grid or squared depending on the game, reactive healing. AoC never got far enough to be in a group to heal so I don't really know how it's gonna work out.

Vanguard has a bit extra for healers to do.
All healers have several normal classical heals. instant heal, medium heal, big heal all energy based.
Some variation for each healer, bloodmage, disciple, shaman, cleric
bloodmage is kinda like a caster and has verious lifetap life transfer type heals, shared damage, husks (wards), they form bloodunions with there targets that enhance their abilities.
disciples are marshal artists. They have some melee based heals, abilities that reduce the damage from mobs things like that. So they get in and melee to be effective. They can also identify spells being cast by opponents and block the spell converting the power into endurance and then they can also convert endurance into energy. Many abilities are based on Jin which is gained in melee combat.
shaman are classic healers with a focus on bufs and debufs. They get either a bear, wolf or pheonix pet. Pets get abilities you can use as well as you gain special abilities related to the diety associated with the pet.
clerics are classic healers but they give regen type bufs that give healing and energy. They also can regenerate there own energy by getting in and meleeing. They have protective bufs. Damage shield bufs. Clerics also have diety affinities that give them special abilities based on the affinities they take.
All in all Vanguard trys to make healers more engaged in combat while giving each type of healer a unique flavor.
