A ray of hope for new players

fast3ddyfast3ddy Member Posts: 26

I have been playing DF for about 3 weeks now and can say that I have officially risen above the hardships of first starting out. I can say with honesty that this game is absolutely brutal on beginners, but it doesn't last. Eventually you will be able to keep your self and your loot safe while progressing in your getting your skills higher. I'm currently building my character up as a magic user and its great, is such an awesome feeling just sniping a mob with spells at a distance I never thought possible in an MMO.

If your a new player keep at it, read this http://www.dfguide.com/ and I promise you too will be well on your way to not getting noob ganked and actually getting to a point where you feel comfortable adventuring in this harsh world of DF.

Yes it is a fun game if you actually play it. Remember, its only a grind if you choose to grind.

I am glad your enjoing it. I

will however take a break for a month to try out Mortal Online beta, see whats that like.

The real ray of hope for DF players is Mortal Online.

  • fast3ddyfast3ddy Member Posts: 26

Mortal Online, thats the game that claims to be developed by the some of the original ultima online development team. Thats a lie though, why they would say that doesn't make any sense.

that is a bit more accurate.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

I don't think that DFO's issues lie on the initial difficulty and ganking. That's a given and most players will be able to cope with that.

    The problems go way deeper.

Cool, didn't realize that this was the case. Exactly which members of the original UO team are working on it?

Might you provide a link to where this claim is made? I find this to be quite interesting.

    Thanks.

    I said it's a ray of hope.

I didn't say it IS going to be the best thing ever. I am very pessimitistic just because of my experience with DF.

Do you mean disappoint in the same way that Darkfall has?

MO isn't out yet, so no one knows how well or poorly it will do.  I do think, however, that at this stage of the game, MO's developers appear to be much more organized and professional that DF's devs were.  They also communicate far more effectively, and appear to have a more precise view on what the game is supposed to do/be at launch.  In that regard, it appears that MO is ahead of DF.

Will that translate to a higher quality game at release and beyond?  Who knows?

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

    WTF???

leave the starter towns and come play with themercs, rainbow ninjas, etc.

i even know a few guys in "the old timer's guild" that have 30+ 100s.  if you played darkfall, you'd know you can drag/drop your skills into chat and show others what you have.   it's a pretty common thing for folks to do that... and pretty much every single time... someone will be like "wtf, let me show you skills" and will link a crapton of 100s.   weird.. you get that surge in swimming when you hit 100... but it doesn't drop back to anything, it stays the same 100... i use swimming, because any noob will have that to 100 the first week.

seriously, you either don't play, or you don't leave the starter towns, or maybe you just run and hide all day.

but whatever, i am so sick and tired of liars and people who don't actually play darkfall... the core of the game -- i.e. take and keep territories having "opinions" which completely contradict factual information.. but oh, they know so much more than someone that is allied to and fights against people who DO HAVE 30+ SKILLS AT 100....

oh wait... maybe that's because you don't understand "exploit".   they don't roll back gains from all the exploits since retail.

seriously GO TROLL ELSEWHERE... just because you don't play darkfall, don't understand darkfall, or whatever your problem is --- that does not change facts.

seriously -- go buy darkfall, learn to play... AND STOP TROLLING here.

    I'm sorry,

    You're wrong.

I have to agree with damian.

I've been playing since launch as well, with about a 3 week break, and yes there are a lot of people with multiple 100 skills.

After just 2 weeks a lot of people already had  masteries.

Magic and archer didn't need to hit anything to level untill about a month ago.

newbie weapons gave skill for over a month and people were macroing the hell out of them.

You never saw the pyramid exploit for rigor?  HUNDREDS in a single night doing that.

I've seen countless people do the acid pools before it got fixed.

    You're simply downplaying the truth.

The exploits and hacks. They let people use the exploits for weeks before stopping it and fixing  one..

No roll back... so we are left to  manage against super defence players...

Then the shield exploit now we have to deal with master weapon users...

You spend your time building a city with the hopes it works for you in return...

    Hence....

We built a city prep for a siege and  as they came, it sounded like pop corn as three guilds cast launch over our walls.

Who needs to seige.. just launch over the walls and knock stuff down...

If y0ou dont macro all night you cant compete, if you didnt use the exploits you lost your city.

Your city is a waste of time. You spent all the time grinding like robots to get it built, only to have  clans launch over the walls and attack you inside..

Its like whos idea was it to even think about putting walls up.... remember how long it was for them to add doors for the gate houses..

Darkfall has fun pvp solo or in groups sure but any damn  game can have good pvp solo or in groups.

This was suppose to be about seiges and the full scale war thing.

    its not so i quit.

Ive thought of returning when the American servers come but then im thinking ... the the hell for..

Mortal is right around the corner... Hopefully they know how to design a city for seige combat.

Yes i really played i was in Shimmergloom.

i wonder if they'd consider just selling the game as a "multiplayer" game... i.e. you purchase the game, and all your friends that have the game can all log onto whatever server you've created.... sorta like nwn.   or maybe they do like battlenet/arenanet; but, it's for darkfall...

the money question is how many of you guys will also whine and cry about it.

Are you kidding me? Did you actually just say Darkfall has content?

i deleted my reply to javac's post... i figured he was so obviously trolling, that it wasn't worth the reply.
