Player Housing

Player housing is definately something im really excited about in EQII.  I cant wait to get some really cool stuff and make my house sweet but I have one question.  Will we be able to allow other players to enter our houses or will it be like FFXI where everyone walks through the same zone and goes to a different place?  I mean it would be that much cooler to let people come inside your house so they can see first hand how sweet it is.

You will be able to allow other to enter your house. I believe they will have to be grouped with you to do so. If you have an in-game spouse they will be able to enter your house and use the storage whenever they feel like it.

I'm really excited for my house in EQ2! Baby dragon...

That would be awesome if it worked like that, only thing I could see being cooler is if they had ACL's for your house so you could let certain people in whenever and not let certain people in ever even if grouped with you.

the initial housing apartments are instanced, meaning we go in there alone BUT we can allow different people different levels of access. Anyone we want entering can enter, but we can set a certain person at visitor level access so they can only see but not touch. We can also set friend or trustee access level which allows them to move and pick up things in your room, and even remove or drop things off.

there is also permanent non-instanced housing within the city proper that everyone can see and walk by, but that housing costs a grip of money and is not cheap to maintain.

isn't the non-instanced housing for guilds?

Housing will be instanced. I'm fairly sure guild housing will also be instanced. I havn't heard any other information about non-instanced housing.

Anyone have any links for this?

Guild housing will definitely not be instanced, but also not easily affordable and attainable, and expensive to maintain. It's more of a status symbol than anything else. And people will be able to walk by and see who the badass guilds are, and they are going to implement guild crests to be shown on the guild houses. I've read these things in interviews and official posts on the EQ2 forums, but I don't have the links handy. You can use Search over on those boards to find actual quotes.

I think some guild housing will be instance, with the real high-end stuff non-instanced. In fact, I took it as any house could effectively be a guild house. You just need to give people access to your house for it to be. That might be inaccurate, though.

You may be right , i would be very unsure about leaving some valuable in my house to find out my fellow guild member are using it because we all know that some people are all smiling in your face one time and stab you in the back the next.

Below is a link which touches on the guild house a little along with the insignias. The insignias are not going to be available at release. The guild house seems to be one of the member's houses. Also I got the impression that others can enter your house to buy things from you but they could not alter anything unless you gave them permission to do so. I also recall that the banks will be used for storage of money and equipment and not houses.

Haven't paid much attention to housing as it's not really something I care about, but I do know people can't mess with your stuff, unless you give them permission.

Still don't understand.  You have to give everybody permission, or can you set a standard entry like SWG whare they can access you for payment, but can't steel your stuff???

  • AeryithAeryith Member Posts: 162
it's kinda like SWG. you can set permissions of entering to all, specific people, or ban all/specific people. you can also set permissions for people being able to modify your stuff. by default, no one can get their grubby litte paws on your stuff, unless you allow them to. i don't know about charging people to enter your house. that seems out of context for EQ2.

Now how does Furniture work? Are we goin to be able to build it and place it inside the house? Or does it come furnished when you buy it?
