What?? LotrO, WAR, AoC, EvE and so on all advertise on this and other sites and they have launched. Most F2P games you see here is released, They want you to click the add and 5 minutes later you can play them game. No point advertising a product you cant sell, and DDO:EU dont have any pre-orders so theres no point having adds now. When EU release you want adds everywhere so people can see it and then get it as soon as possible not "Remember us in 2 weeks when we release" cause people dont do that. hype is being build by getting press-coverage and there have been alot of that for DDO lately. Saw today that IGN.com had new DDO screenshots as one of their main news today. Thats marketing!
An expansion is not comparable to a relaunch that includes an entire new payment system. The two are no close to eachother in terms of game changing improvements and changes.
How is it not comparable?? I would say a retail expansion is even bigger reason to advertise for but whatever.
You think advertising beforehand is stupid, that makes it clear you have no businees or marketing backgroud. But to continue calling what clearly works everyday in the entire world stupid is an ignorant statement. Though I find it funny you say I am a jerk yet complain I am calling names. Irony escape you?
No its clear you know nothing about how MMO marketing works and what other simillar companies are doing. And you still havent backed up anything you said with any arguments or sources.
And yes I think that people who call others Ignorant for not agreeing with them are jerks...

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

All those games you named advertised way before release. That is how you build interest. If you want to argue with me at least have some idea of reality. Those companies advertised before release and after, that is how success is built. Right now Turbine is doing the remeber us in two weeks thing because they are not putting up ads and the interviews are obviously much fewer compared to the week or so after announcement. Keeping DDO in potential players minds is what is needed. Pre orders or not no advertising because the product is not for sale is BS, since you can still buy and subscribe to DDO, you are aware the game still operates right? So advertising the game they have would still be win/win. Thank you for proving me right by not trying.

I did not call you ignorant for not agreeing, I called you ignorant for not having a clue how it works but still refusing to educate yourself and then making up examples that prove your theory wrong. That is the definition of ignorance. You want sources? Try looking up any ad for a game not yet released, you know like every major MMO ever has done at some point.

You are making no sense.. You claimed that games dont advertise after launch but 99% of the adds here are for released games and they all say "PLAYFOR FREE NOW" not "PLAY FOR FREE BUT YOU HAVE TO WAIT 2 WEEKS" so that people can go and play their game. Yea people can play the game now but they want to attract people to DDO:EU so why start advetise for it before they launch it?? Im sure they could do advertising both pre-launch and after launch but if you have to choose one then its ALOT smarter to do it after launch when people can click the add and then play the game 15 minutes later. You do know that it costs money to advertise right? You just want to argue for the sake of arguing and call people stupid when they dont agree but still you dont offer any arguments or examples to the discussion.

I did not call you ignorant for not agreeing, I called you ignorant for not having a clue how it works but still refusing to educate yourself and then making up examples that prove your theory wrong. DDO have been released for 3 years so its not like they are going to create any hype by having adds. They want to have adds that ACTUALLY SELL THE GAME since thats what advertising is for, if that makes me stupid and ignorant then fine. See any adds for Champions or Aion here? No its all released games. The way you just twist words makes me think you would do much better in politics than marketing...

Lets start slowly and explain so you undersatand. I never said games do not advertise after launch, I said you do not start advertising then. Of course you continue to advertise for as long as the money spent is worthwhile. You keep saying it is ALOT smarter to wait but the fact is everyday life proves you wrong. You want examples look at the banners on this site for games starting closed beta, open betas and games comign soon. It happens every single day with games and other products.

YOU can play DDO now as a matter of fact if you join now you can get in the beta for the remaining time with no beta key. Sorry but the one here arguing with no basis and just to argue is you.

So DDO changing to EU and advertising will now build any hype? So why bother changing then? Obviously you fail to see the big changes they are making that are certainly worth advertising to people who as of now do not play DDO. As for Aion yes there are banners ont his site for it. Maybe you shoud research your subject better before trying to claim your made up numbers as facts. All you are doing is making my statement that you are ignorant even more right each post.

EDIT: In this section Papadam I will be listing the games on this site that advertise before release. Since  I posted I saw an ad for Champions Online(that means both Aion and Champions, two games you said do not advertise are both on this site so you are wrong) and a game called Wonder Kings that is in closed beta. Below I will list all games I see and then we can find out how far off your 99% claim is. This might be a good time for you to say you were wrong. I doubt you have that ability.

    1. Aion

    2. Champions Online

    3. Wonder King

    4. Sudden Attack. This game is advertising a pre open beta starting on July 28th.

I dont see how adds would bring any hype to DDO. I se how adds would bring new players WHEN EU IS RELEAED! An add who doenst sell anything is pointless in my opinion.

EDIT: In this section Papadam I will be listing the games on this site that advertise before release. 1. Aion - Havent seen any adds for this one but if they do have ads Im sure they say: "Pre-order now!" or "Join the beta" None of this is waht DDO needs. Actually Im surprised not to see 1000x the more adds for Aion than there is currently since its actually A NEW RELEASE

    2. Champions Online - Same as above. Even less marketing on this. Actually pretty much the same DDO:EU have got which is surprising since champions is A NEW RELEASE

    3. Wonder King - Looking for beta testers something DDO doesnt need. They need pleyers after DDO:EU launch

    4. Sudden Attack. This game is advertising a pre open beta starting on July 28th. - Looking for beta testers aswell

All ads on this site and other have "Pre-order now" Join beta now" "Play for free now". And I  rest my case... If I haven convince you yet then I guess its no pint arguing with you.

You think that an add saying "Come and play this game, but wait for 2 weeks" is better than "Come and play our game NOW for free" is better. I disagree and I respect your opinion even if you have called me a fanboy, clueless, ignorant or whatever.

Nevermind. I can see you will change your stance a little each time to try and seem right when I have done what you asked and proved you wrong with examples. It was nice trying to help you, but I am done. Bye now.
