Favorite class in any game?

BalterBalter Member Posts: 1,015

It can be any game - even a non MMORPG.

My favorite by far would have to be the Alchemist in Everquest online adventures for the PS2.

They brewed special potions ahead of time, and your dps was tossing the potions at enemies that did everything from debuffs to snares to straight up damage. The class is ingenious and beats classes that are more linear like mages and warriors.

My build: Sapphire Radeon HD 4850, Asus P5GC-MX/1333 Motherboard, 4gb G.SKILL DDR2 667MHz RAM, Core 2 Duo e7200 CPU, 250gb Western Digital SATA Harddrive, Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit.

    City of Villains - Dominator

I liked the strategic combat with this class solo and it was even more effective in a group. Then there was the Domination that you could trigger to be god-like. Good times!

Architect in SWG; simply loved the novelty of not being combat oriented, and it was always a nice feeling to log in and get bombarded with requests for custom orders.

Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift

It had that? wow the more i read about the that game the more it sounds like it was a fantastic game!

I didnt have a chance to try it on release unfortunately, I only tried the trial years later and wasnt impressed with no one around and poor graphics.

Oh and on topic, I prefer games where I can make my own hybrid class. I had a decent stealth archer in Ultima Online.

On the rpg's that I like to play, I like to be those assassin's that deal with the dagger and bow, and perform assassinations with little to no attention or awareness. I do like to be the crafter if that game got a great crafting system that helps me make the best items and the best armor and make a great income by selling them at the right price. I just wish there was some type of economical achievements to where we can become very competatitve and gain something that make's it more fun to run the market and control the supply and demand.

Smuggler from Starwars Galaxys, able to craft spice(food buffs/drugs), slice armor and weapons to make them better, aswell as mission terminals to increase the payout by large amounts, not to mention slicing locked cans for force crystals. And to top it off, pistoleering skills such as Low Blow....come on...you shoot a guy in the bawls and knock him prone, and then the imfamous Feign Death.....Those were the days ;(

Mess with the best, Die like the rest

LOTRO: Hunter. I love the look and feel of this version of an old class. Even the sounds of the arrows make the Hunter seem deadly.

Vanguard: Disciple. This is a fresh idea. The way this class works, is to heal by doing DPS. Certain skills and abilities become available based on the DPS skills the Disciple chooses. And they do good DPS on their own too.

Anarchy Online: Martial Artist. With the best implants these guys could solo red mobs and they healed almost as good as a Doctor. Back in the day, before Funcom nerfed shotguns, they could use their crit abilities to one-shot people in PvP.

Sticking with a MMO, Creature Handler in SWG was great back in the day. All of the Star Wars creatures at your disposal to find and tame, made planets worth exploring, and going back far enough, you could even have three gigantic creatures out at once. Weaponsmith was also a great class in SWG. Being a master, I had several people who searched out the best resources for me in exchange for goods. Surveying and finding the best resources, experimenting, and then sorting them all out, made the building classes in SWG great. Making people's day, by freely giving them extra weapons (and good ones too) I had crafted, helped spread my characters name around. Crafters never needed to fight, but if I ever did I already had the best weapons at my disposal.

I am normally a scout of some sort. My favorite so far has been the Swashbuckler from EQ2. I enjoyed his aoe damage and his sauve looks.

Yeah, architect was great.  I'm of the opinion that if I could find a game that allows me to have great crafting fun like the architect, along with a great combat gameplay experience, I'd pretty well be set for life.

Anyways, I usually play mages.  I got hooked on the mage back in D2, played one in wow as well, and in general if a game has a mage class I'll play it before any other class.

Bio Engineer in SWG. A complex and fun crafting class. Creating new pets with a complex experimentation system, being a regular customer of every hunter guild on the server and getting massive orders from chefs every day. I was literally flying through the galaxy whenever I could looking for more meat and veggies for my factories. PvP? Who cares when the crafting alone is so much fun.

EQ1 Shadowknight. Second MMO I played, fell in love with my dark elf SK pretty much on first sight, and never really played anything else for 6 years straight :P

In terms of unique, well-made concept, Vanguard: Blood Mage.

  • sn0wblind00sn0wblind00 Member UncommonPosts: 388

shadowknight from eq 1 was enjoyable.  it has a skele pet, feign death, the ability to slow/fear mobs, and an instant high dmg ability.

final fantasy tactics had some fun, unique ones, such as the mediator, time mage, geomancer, and mime.

SWG Bounty Hunter/ Creature Handler. I was so cool to use contacts and droids to figure out which planet your mark was on. Then tracking your mark accross the planet, trying to figure out where he is, and then taking them out. Good stuff, it's a shame Jump to Lightspeed wasn't in back then.

Honorable mention goes to AoC and the Herald of Xotli, sword weilding mage class. It's a total glass cannon, but a blast to play.

Every non combat profession in SWG because it was genius how they tied them into the game to make it how social it was where every profession needed other professions to play the game.

Also Druid in WoW is amaizng but so is every class in WoW.

interesting, I think maybe they based beserker in the PC Everquest on that.

The disciple in vanguard was pretty sweet.a kung fu healer was fun to play with a good dps output.

All the AO classes, like Fixer & Agent )

    Damn I want AO2 =))

I can't really pinpoint a favorite class. However, my favorite class system came from the game Titan Quest. It combined the dual class system of guild wars with the talent trees of Diablo. I loved it. It was a real shame that game company folded, they had some talented developers.
