Degree of Graphical Sophistication(in comparison to other games)

BellarionBellarion Member Posts: 244

I decided tomake a thread about how much expected graphical threading and other graphic techniques will be in FF14 since it was begun in 2005 but is still in production... Im not good with words, but Id like to know what others feel is a reasonable amount of graphic for FF14... so like taking into consideration the games coming out nowadays and how long they were in production etc. or like games made already that are graphically stunning, what game can we expect FF14 to be on par with or better then... because I am unsure of what I can expect from the makers of beautiful FF12(although it was not an mmo... can we expect graphics similar or better).

I like where you are going here. The real question however is....what else. I feel that once this very important question is addressed....everything else will fall into place.....what else indeed.....what else?

It's better to lurk in forums and be thought a fool...than to endlessly "Quote" and remove all doubts.

I guess I am hoping for Aion quality or perfect world. I think I can expect that or better... but who knows I think Aion was made in a shorter more recent time frame, maybe utilizing more recent advances in animation etc. But I have to think we will at least get  perfect world graphics. Does anyone know what version of Direct X is being used??

Just so you know it was made by the same team as 11. At least that is what I've seen in every article I have read in the past year.

I'm expecting it to be better than anything tha thas been released. This is SE their games have been absolutely beautiful graphics wise and usually above anything else out there, especially with their FF series. I'm personally building a new comp just for this game.

    • In regards to the PC version, the game will utilize the most current version of Direct X that is out when beta testing begins. This goes for Operating System as well. Similarly, they do not specify Vista or Windows 7 as an operating system, saying again that it will depend on what is out at the time. For those of you looking to prep a new PC, Tanaka claims they are really looking to get on the cutting edge of technology with this installment. Like Final Fantasy XI, the game specs will be extremely high for the time, but in about 5 years, an average machine can run it on max settings with little to no issues. Tanaka also expressed interest in making a benchmark program available.

CGI in real-time...needless to say the game should be gorgeous, and we can use FFXIII as a heursitic to see :)
