Where are the "lol Funcom failed again" threads?

Is it possible that Funcom has released a good patch with only minor issues?

Seems to me that no news is good news. People are playing, not trolling Funcom on various forums.

Gratz Funcom. Good work.

Maybe people haven't really had a chance to try it yet, I know I won't be able to check it out until after work tonight or tomorrow even.

Maybe nobody plays or gives a damn about AOC anymore?  Its more fail upon fail.

The player base that's left, that small player base, is made of the people who will love anything Funcom does.

But I'm sure you'll still see complaints if you give it time.

this patch has been on test live for a long time now, i think people kind of know what to expect and bugs will not surface magically on live.

anyways, so far, the transition from test live to the production servers looks ok, and no issues have been reported yet.

I don't see how this thread is any better than the "LOL Failcom" threads, but if you want them, give it time.  The servers haven't been back up that long.

Jackdog - its the absence of "Failcom" threads in this forum thats amaizing. At every other patch there has been some issue that the "crowd" has screamed about and then there has been a surge of "haters" here telling everybody about it.

This time however everything is smooth. There are bugs as you point out, but they are withiin the "acceptable" level for players so nobody feels the urge to share their "hate". The lack of negative threads is amaizing for one who has followed the game since before release

It seems that Craig has finally made AoC "his game" and that all ghost from the past that Gaute Godager left behind have been exorcised from Funcom.

Hats off for Craig and his crew :)

I dont claim that it is better. Haters are entiteled to hate and lovers to love. As long as people are reasonable i think its ok to show your feelings in forums such as this.  Jackdog is a good example of a generally negative poster that is always reasonable and keeps his integrity. I like to think of myself as a reasonable "fanboi".

I myself never thought Funcom failed with AoC.  I did feel that they were FunCON though because they certainly did con me with all the stuff they put on the box and advertised before launch that did not make it in the game.  I still played it for a couple weeks before moving on.  It was graphically ok, but overall unfinished, unpolished (except for the starter zone), and not particularly interesting, at least for me.  Still many people enjoyed it and still do.  I understand that it has improved greatly under Craig's leadership and I wish them all the best.  The more they make on AoC, the more they can put into the Secret World. :)

Don't you worry, the bashing will most likely continue (after all, it's mmorpg.com).

In AoC's case I have the impression that a lot of the bashers are people who generally felt tricked when the game did not deliver what they expected, and especially because of the problems the game suffered in the weeks and months after release, so it has little to do with how the game is now.

Actually, I think the worst case scenario for the most bitter ones is if the game keeps improving like it has. If it went under, then at least they get a sense of revenge, and the old "I told you so".

Most bashers have long gone though. We only get to enjoy some of the more hard-core ones.

Funcom is doing pretty good with adding and fixing its game, its far from fail...

  • JackdogJackdog Member UncommonPosts: 6,321

like I said 4 pages of bugs and complaints in the US boards1.05 feedback forum since the servers came back up, that is more threads than the general forums over there get in a week. Cal it minor complaint or spin it how you want the proof will be in the third quarter financial report on whether it was a success or not.

Ack! I read through some of the threads, it doesn't look pretty. I will never say a game is FAIL, FAIL, EPIC FAIL! until it actually closes down. That's my ultimate definition of fail, but funcom, they are trying really hard. I can't fault them on that at all. As for AoC, I recently finished up my 7 day freeride. TBBH, after I got the notice I uninst the game, it wasn't for me. But that doesn't mean its a fail.

Unless you have  logged in and actually tested the changes for yourself, please STFU.

Ooooh, have they re-made the game from scratch and changed it's core design?

Pretty much Joppari in terms of statistics, gear, skills, spells and how all this roles into the game world vs other players / mobs / raids / group play and so on. Design of the game still is zoned, look of the game is better with DX10 but still the same, optimization of how it performs is better too.

Sadly, that was the real killer for me, that and the instancing. :(

Browsing the official forums it looks like people are quite happy or at least open minded to their class changes.

It may take a while until the players get the full scope of this patch.

Funniest bug is that alot of them claimed their free 50 char, created that character and when they landed on the beach in the intro, they had a totaly different class! Deleting that char, the one time option to create a free 50 was used and left.

Some petitioned the problem and got told that Funcom can't help them with that.

*edit: seems like the class switches to whatever when one changes the gender of that char while creating it.

I've tried out the changes during a couple of hours now, and I'm pretty satisifed with them. It will take quite a while, however, to get the full picture and scope of this patch - e.g. class balance is way to early to comment on yet.

    .............
    When in doubt, troll.

Or maybe the player base is so small now. Everyone that was dissapointed with the game has moved along. I myself tried it but the game didn't feel like a world just a bunch of instanced zones connected with teleporters. .yuck.

The character creation has allways been like this. When changing gender, which is the first selectable item, you reset all previous selections. I've made that mistake myself a couple of times, having to recreate a character. So beware of this when making your free lvl 50!

Even though many bugs reached the surface with this patch, this is by far the best update AoC has seen. Overall it is a major improvement, the game in general makes sense now.
