Aion pricing in Japan fear

NomortaLNomortaL Member Posts: 43

So im planning on getting the japanese version of the game next month when it comes out. the open beta starts in about 1.5 weeks and im all ready for it. However, the price hasnt been decided yet!

On the official aion japanese boards, people are talking about how much people would pay for the game. Many people are ok with 3000 yen a month! (about $30)!

I checked how much lineage 2 was and the subscription fee is $30 a month, crazy isnt it?!

So now i feel that aion may be around that much since its a new game and both are ncsoft games. I may just wait for the US version to play. no way would i pay $30 a month :]

O.o holy crap. But if it is 30$ a month that means that's what an average Japanese player can afford, usually that means they earn more dollar wise (doesn't mean they are richer it just means the price of living is way higher).

My, that is expensive. Why would you get the japanese version though? The US/EU versions come out in September. It would be worth the wait, I should think.

The cost of living in Tokyo is pretty steep.  It has been several years since I've been there, but as far as I can remember the compensation is good.

30k yen still sounds like a lot, considering computers aren't as mainstay there.  Due to everyone's cellphone technology acting as pocket internet computers, a sony playstation console makes a lot more sense than a computer.  The computers they used in the college I attented were only powerful enough to do word processing and research.

Maybe they need to charge that much just to keep the servers up and pay for the staff.  Less subs = higer price per sub for the same amount of revenue.

I could be totally off with my nippon computer gamer estimation, but that would be my first impression.

Read his post.  He's not talking about playing Aion in the US.  He wants to play it in Japan.

That doesn't mention anything about asian markets.
