The moment you ask what others wants in it.  It already is heading down a path of self destruction.

Artists usually don't ask others what they want in a painting, it is art, so it is suppose to be the vision of the makers.

Asking what people want in it basically will make it turn out to be a mess or become basically what the current MMORPG industry is doing.

What you really want to ask is to ask yourself what would I find fun, and would others find it fun?  How would I go about making it fun, and why it would be fun and not just interesting.

    Commercial artists do.

So, you unless you can magically make a full MMO appear, stay away from making one.

What part of USUALLY don't you understand? lol

Edit: BTW I don't even consider Commercial Artist being artist.  They are basically art merchants that produce certain art on request.  No arts made for commercial is going to remain in history as being great piece of art work.

I'm not asking whether or not I should make an MMO. I am making one. What do you want in it?

Okay this is what I want:

Make an MMO where you do quests to get skills as oppose to leveling up to get skills. Don't have leveling up. Instead have a character develop through quests and exploration. Then I'd totally play your game.

What I want in it is too much work for you apparently anyways. LOL

    So, nothing for me thx.

How about an MMO where we are all friendly to each other with no violence?  In fact, any attack is replaced by a hug: "You HUG the boar for 30 health".

An MMO where we run through the grass fields together, holding hands, only to stop at the end and smell the flowers.   Then we retire to the guild house for milk and cookies.

That's the MMO I'm waiting for.

No offense, but if you are saying something like this, then how much work do you think goes into an MMO. You can't just say your making an MMO and it happen. You need money, talent, employee's and the mindset to create one. If your asking a forums board what they want before hand, then you honestly have no clue as to what your doing. I would suggest just playing them, because obviously, creating one would be to much work for you.

If you're serious, here  ya go:

    MMORPG Maker

I want to be able to change the world. give me dungeons I can open or close to all players by my actions, territory I can control, bridges I can build or destroy, shops I can open or close, ways to implement fast travel taht can be destroyed by other players, and things like that.

Hugh world, filled with content, the feeling of a virtual world, but not set in present times (aka TheSims), but set in a prefered Sci-Fi setting.

Highly polished, bugfree, lots of content, both PVP and PVE, realism, meaning the more time spend the better a player will be, regardless that I hardly have much time to play, it's only logical that those who might have more time to play to be better rewarded. Make sure grouping gives benifiths towards solo play, meaning make sure rewards or what ever is greater when grouped then when playing solo, again I don't care I might not have enough time to group there for it's logical to except I will not be getting the best of the best. Make sure your MMO has plenty of none-combat professions, as we all know we already have tons of fighting games and MMORPG's CAN be so much more. Also when talking virtual world, of course like any game it has timesincks, even Tetris is a timesink so I wonder why people pretend that games are around that do not have time sinks. A virtual world is where people can have fun in all sorts of way except in limited way as with these combat only MMORPG's. I also want it to be full 3d. Next gen graphics, with options for those with DX9 aswell DX10.

If it's Sci-Fi I want spaceships, but not like load into space, nooooo, I want to lift of from a planet and enter the atmosphere before entering space, so no load from planet to space but actualy lift off.

The only thing missing now is booze covered in hookers, but that is just so wrong no matter what context you put it in.

How about you get the licence of Hasbro to produce a Transformers MMO. It would have awesome graphics better than crysis! And being able to just drive into battle and transform! Then use skills from ranged shooting to powerfull melee attacks! It would be an MMO like no other.

Might cost you about $30m though.

We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.
