It's difficult to say at the moment. While the LotD zone is fun to play, one of the issues is that when one side has control they might not come out to RvR at all, which means the opposing side has nothing to do for several hours. However, as people get tired of the zone and want to RvR again, I think the RvR will increase.

So far I give the LOTD a big meh so far all it's done is kill RVR and senario's on my server and the only pvp we get is 15 min evey few hours when the zone flips, I do relies that it's new content and everbody will want to play it but so far i'am pretty disappointed.

I gave up after 3 days due to the numerous new bugs and the fact that order had consistantly keep LoTD locked down for those three days leaving us destro with nothing to do on my server. It just so happened my account was up for renewal at that point and I had to let my nearly 2 years of War come to an end. Hopefully Biomythic may one day realize what needs to be done with this game, but so far they seem pretty clueless.

    Cheers!

LOTD is a Wonderful thing. On my server, Phoenix Throne we have had tons of fun with the new lands, the new public quests, new loot, and Awsome power leveling area,  the new dungeons, the Indiana Jones type boobie traps, treasure..the list goes on.

Also this brings BIG things for T4 rvr becuase who ever is the current winner, gets access to LOTD

I think LotD has been pretty positive so far on my server. My main complaint is that when LotD is locked down, RvR will sometimes halt altogether. I am hoping that this is only because it is a new thing and everyone is trying to experience everything before going back to RvR, but we'll have to wait and see. It is annoying when Order will just hide when they have LotD locked down, but they've only done this a couple times so I guess I shouldn't complain. I really do like the design of LotD, so I'm hoping I get to experience some more of it in the near future... I've only logged in twice when we've had it locked down, and both times I didn't really have time to play.

With that said, the goal of LotD, in my opinion, was to breathe new life into the game. I think that with time more people will subscribe to check it out, and LotD seems to have enough content to keep current players interested for a while. The real question is: can EA's new group keep the momentum in WAR's favor after LotD wears thin?

You got this off a flyer, right? :p

People on your server certainly seem to be disagreeing with you:

    It's over, ty lotd

More accurately, SOME people seem to be disagreeing with him.  Even in the thread you linked, it's not unanimous.

Looking a little deeper, the numbers it's drawing seem to indicate that quite a few are indeed actually enjoying LotD.  I know I've gone there a lot, as have my guildmates, and we've enjoyed it (also on Phoenix Throne).  While I will agree that it has led to some reduced fighting in the lakes in the few days LotD has been out, it hasn't eliminated it completely (and I'd like to personally thank Order for the 14 Invader tokens a few days ago), and I doubt that it will last long as LotD slides from being the new shiny and just becomes another option in content.

Of course, the new content has been out less than a week.  It's probably not surprising, at least to a reasonable person, that it would draw some significant interest.

Let me ask you this: While we've seen some of the short term impact, do you believe that circumstances will be identical in one or two months?

Also, what are your personal thoughts and experiences with LotD?

Pheace... you need to give up already. Every single one of your posts on these boards is nothing but flamebait. Why do you spend so much of your time on the Warhammer boards if you hate the game so much? Seems like a complete waste of time. We get it - you don't like the game. How about you take a break, *gasp* play a game you might actually like, and only come back to these boards with something new to say? But hey, if it makes you feel good, I guess that's something, right?

Ow look an Ad hominem, there's a shocker. None of what you just wrote applies to me so I feel no need to respond to it in earnest.

Lol, maybe you should read your own posts again and think about it.

I can hardly believe you are as old your profile says. What 31 year old would spent so much time on a forum bashing the game?

HaHa I thought I remembered you your one the people on this board who claimed WAR would have millions of subs and bashes WOW all the time.

With my post count, bashing WoW all the time? I can't seem to find any of my posts where I bash on WoW..

My WoW sub is still running, mind you, I play it when I feel like it.

And I also play WAR. And I never claimed WAR would have millions of subs, not that I can remember.

I agree, LOTD may cause the single largest drop in subs WAR has seen.  When our side has LOTD open, half the people in my alliance log because RVR stops, when LOTD is closed, the other half log because they want to be in LOTD and because RVR stops (destro all moves to LOTD).  Basicly there is no RVR, as others have said.  Theres only alot of what they call RvDoor.  No scenarios since it went live.

Ive never seen an mmo where adding a zone hurt the game mechanic so much, but people on my server -Volkmar- are pissed.  And in the short time LOTD has been out, ive had several guild friends who have been around since the beginning cancle their sub.

I find it a bit mind boggling that a game billed as rvr smash your enemy in the face took this design direction.  How could mythic not see this is what would happen?  LOTD should encourage fighting all the time, not for a short bit and then encourage people to leave rvr.

Things may even out a bit when it gets old, but that too seems to go against the goal of what a solid content patch should do.  Especially for a game that is having issues with its end game.

I play on PT also and the game is more Realm vs Environment than even.  =(

Were you playing last night?  Decidedly less RvE, even with Order in control of LotD.

While most are still heading to LotD, it does appear that it's already starting to even out.

My opinion? Ok. LOTD was a very bad idea. For one... some servers don't have enough number to consistently keep orvr going. This expansion so to speak just made things worse, and i'll tell you why. For one they made extremely good gear drop from it. Everyone now wants to go there. And that makes the population in orvr go down the tubes.

What happens is the winning side goes to LOTD and the other one steamrolls the hell out of the orvr zones, making it hard for the hardcore pvpists that stay in the orvr zones to defend against such numbers.

Not only that I think they are missing the point. They should have added more content to the already existing orvr zones to make it new and exciting. Instead they added another factor to the population issue. And now in addition to scenarios, pq, pve, orvr zones battling for numbers, you have LOTD.

So in short, i'll admit its nice of them to release free content. But they should have thought about the consequences and tested it out more.

It is, in essence, an addition to oRvR because the zone flips contribule greatly to the opening of LotD.

From a personal standpoint, I've already noticed the reduction of RvE type action in the game.  The oRvR has at least started to return to something closer to normal as the newness of LotD starts to fade (and the fights inside LotD during the changeover have been pretty fun as well).

In time, LotD will become just another thing to do.  If they revamp the City Sieges and make further refinements to keep and fortress, both of which they've discussed, that will make the game even better.

LoTD is terrible.  It has pretty much 0 pvp in it and the pve is lame content.  It has actually hindered the pvp in the areas of the game, which i think will go back to normal after everyone realizes how stupid this new zone is.   I feel like the new gear has trivialized the hard work people have put into getting the warlord+ sets.

My biggest problem is when the zone flips to the other side, so we just lost control, the pvp is pointless.  When u die u can not rez to continue the fight, making defending an impossibility for the most part, i am sure there are a few exceptions.  They need to make this zone, i hope they do in the future, open at all times to pvp and make it more fun.  I have taken a break from the game because of LoTD and will give it some time to let every thing/one get back to normal.  The game needed some new content but i think that LoTD is a bust in my opinion and it was poorly thought out.  I know many will cry about this but its my opinion.

The first time, you have to fly there from Altdorf or IC.  After you've done that once, you'll be able to fly there from any Flight Master.
