Straight to the point.

I ll give you some basic information you need to know before you start playing perfect world, or if you re going to continue playing it.

Before i start i want to clarify the word "pro". It just mean i'm a very high level, and stopped playing the game few months ago. If i kept going i would be around lvl 100 now.I had a lvl 82 cleric on a PvP server.  I spent many months playing night and day, spent around 200$ on the cash shop etc.

Alright here we go. All i m gonna give you is the facts of this game, you decide yourself if you like it or not.

-Has a very big and helpful community, yes. And the forums are so crowded of helpful people. Unfortunately the PvP servers turn out to have more kids, flamers and generaly offensive people that bring competitivity to another level. There are always people that are going to help you with everything. Even if they dont have intentions to help you cause they re "good", they HAVE to help you on times, cause thats how the game is. I ll explain this. There are dungeon people call them FB's, that you have to do them every 10 levels, starting from lvl 19. Those dungeons can only be done with a squad of MUCH higher lvl players. For example , FB19 requires a squad of 40+ or maybe 50+ players to finish it without a risk. (or could get a 70+ or 80+ to solo it). So , what do those players gain and why should a help a noob like you even if they dont know you? Easy. They get XP. Each player gets the quest item for the FB only once, and that quest item gives the whole squad XP when they finish all the bosses of the instance. So my point is. You WILL get help. At least till lvl 59. After that it s getting harder.

-You may have to stick to the same 2 skills for 30 or 40 levels. All you can do is upgrading them. That is, IF you have the money to upgrade them. It turns out skills are starting to cost TOO much. Just a single upgrade of the skill "Wield thunder" might cost 1.000.000 coins.

-The game is TOO hard to level up. The ammount of XP you need to LvL up from lvl 75+ gets ridicilus . But it is pretty easy to get to 60. You re not going to go on after that if you re not a hardcore player and dont have like infinity free time. Lvling up from 85 to 86, might take 1 week+ for an average player, providing that you ve done everyday both of the daily quests, with one of them costing around 200k, from lvl 80+ , and the other one needing around 1.30 hour to do it if you dont have bought fast flying gear.

-In this game you can die very easily and you lose XP. When you die after lvl 80+ you may lose 3-4 hours of gaming just cause you died from mobs. You may drop items when someone PKs you. Even when you dont fight back and your name is white, you still have a small chance to drop something. And yes, anything in your inventory might drop. Even the 30$ wings you bought from the cash shop, or your HH80 weapon that you refined to +6 and added a flawless shard and took you 1 month to aquire...

-...but hey! you can do something so you wont drop your precious items! Have you guessed already? yes! you can use the cash shop! The cash shop, on which everything costs a reasonable amount of money(yea right). So you got paid today and want to use a bit of money to this CHEAP cash shop? alright lets do this! Lets buy the best wings for 50$, and lets buy some guardian angels so you wont drop anything if you die. Hmmm... maybe we should buy a marriage pack too? There is this venomancer i ve fallen in love with and... you know. Oh wait, how much does the marriage pack costs? 30$... oh wait again... Thats 30$ EACH.. My point is.. This game is 100% cash shop based, and its a money trap. I admit it i was a victim too. as i mentionted before , i spent around 200$ on the cash shop. Just think about this. You want to get a mount, some average flying gear, some guardian angels, and a Gold HP charm (Those are the things that auto heal you when your HP drops under 50%. And they're consumed VERY fast. Also, its almost essential that you NEED to have a charm. Not only for grinding, but especialy for instances. Noone gets you on party if you dont have HP or MP charm( depending on your class)). The cheapest mount is 10$(Without ugrading items), average flying gear is around 20$. another 5$ for a guardian angels pack, and 4$ for a single gold charm. Thats a sum of 39$. Now you should feel satisfied... or not ? Either way, few weeks later you ll find out they released new mounts, and new wings, so your items now are so "noobish". Oh, and you just realised your HP charm is almost out. You have to buy a new one yet again for 4$ or 400.000 ingame coins from a player. Oh and lets talk about refining items.... it is IMPOSSIBLE to upgrade something above +2 or +3  without  using the cash shop refine items. As the lvl of the item goes up, the price of the refining items you need to use gets ridiculously high. When i left the game, only 3 people had over +10 equipment. And they spent over 3000$ to have it.

-Classes are very imbalanced. Barbarians over lvl 70 need a squad of people to bring them down. and above lvl 80 you just cant kill them. You might tick their charm, but no, you wont kill them. Venomancers are overpowered too. Since Perfect world released the phoenix(Which costs around 250$), venos are unbeatable. You might be a lvl 80 players and PvP with a lvl 60 venomancer with a phoenix. Dont bother try that. she going to bring you down in seconds. Well, not her actualy, but her phoenix. Also, venos can solo almost every instance if they have a hercules pet (cash shop item too)

Edit: Forgot about this, dont let the countless quests at low levels trick you. Yes you can lvl up only by questing, but thats only till your 40s

Well thats about it.. nothing else comes in mind right now, i ll probably update it as i get new thoughts. thanks for reading this, and if you re going to play the game enjoy it as much as you can, and dont spend money you re going to regret on the cash shop. Also, i have to wish you good luck and patience if you re aiming to go above lvl 70

wow, obscured, you were in a bad mood when you wrote this.

I've seen you rate this game much better and i know you played enough to have a fair opinion on it. Well, you pretty much trashed it with this post, lol.

Some are simple exagerations, some are simply put into a very dark light, making them grotesque. I can do that too, even if i actualy kind of like the game. (I only love Heroes III game anything else is ... for fun)

I will not take point by point and trash back, because I think you don't deserve that:) I will however advise any people that read this post in hope of getting a clear idea of what this game possibilities are to read other posts and replies made by me regarding this game. I only bring facts from it, I don't customize them. I NEVER BOUGHT ANY ITEMS WITH REAL MONEY in this game and whoa... do I have some nice molded items and TT weapons(4 weapons) simply by using Auction House. Man that's so ... "DUH!". Also... I PLAY 2-4 HOURS MAXIMUM ALMOST EVERY DAY  and i am not a hardcore bad-arse addicted player. At the moment i play mostly Demigod in my free time, if i'm not taking care of my bee trailer(now That's time consuming) - yes i love honey and sell it for nice cash.

Anyway... I would love to see a "patch" of your post in which you take a look on this game from the bright perspective too:). I'd hate to see you persevere in this darkness.

Have fun PWI players^^. Why? Because with this game... you can! .... erm... WE can!

aw aw aw... forgot (this a later edit): I kicked lvl 81 barbarian arse when i was lvl 70, as an inauguration of my acalanatha wand, in like 10 duels or so. A lvl 77 blademaster used to kick my arse previous to 70, but i also upgraded my fox skills so i froze him and nuked magic on his botox. So the game IS balanced but depends ALOT on player style and skills, HOW IT SHOULD BE. Man did i have fun with that barbarian, just outside Frostcovered Grounds FB, he was like... "you are an overpowered clas!!!" i killed him with my Snow Hare, Golem, Sawly(rulz) and Eldergoth Marksman. He thought he was invincible too:) I remember him saying: "stay here and fight like a man" Duh, im a mage class, why would i stay let him hit me!?!? Besides, all venomancers are female characters, how can i fight like a "man". It was fun, trust me, im still smiling remembering that time:)

e5200 oc@ 3,7GHz - plays any game. If you need a quad core, you must be a solitaire junkie.

My advice for PW is do not play it.  Massive timesink, runs very slow and clunky, mobs have no AI at all, no group content at all.

    Wth are you talking about?

Group Content? You mean like Territory Wars, FBs, the monthly and weekly Races, Various Special Dungeons, the ongoing NPC Raids, and as an extra  "Zen Parties"? If you look deep you would see that PWI is based around helping people which is grouping because its the biggest way to level. If you got past the "training levels" which are 1-30 you would've experienced a few of these things. I remember you posting somewhere else that you didn't like raids which is group content, yet you complain that there is no group content when you avoid raids? Kind of pointless to complain about something you don't like you think?

Runs very slow and clunky? PW is one of those games like WoW that's known to run smooth and be easy on graphics cards. I suggest you update your computer or check and see whats hogging all your processes.

How smart do you expect mobs to be other than "Attack back when hit and use various skills" or "Aggro unto people" the AI is typical of any MMORPG. Some monsters even run away when their health gets low.

Name any MMORPG other than WoW thats not a timesink or has any elements in it thats a timesink.

    hehehe, guess I hit a nerve :)

I don't like raids if they are to sit around hours to get even better gear, I am not motivated by gear other than fluff.  I do like raids if they are PvP based or group situations that are running a fun instance.  No I haven't done PW's version of PvP, thus I won't judge it good/bad.

My character on PWI is in the 60's, high enough to see much of what you listed, thanks but no thanks.

My computer is more than up to date my GTX 260 runs everything on high just fine.  PW runs very clunky, it isn't my system it is the game.  It is very slow casting, slow action, I could fall asleep from boredom playing it.

I put the post up above when I was in a bad mood, usually I am not so grrrrrrrrr, so sorry if that bothered you.  A lot of people love PW, more power to them, I wish them nothing but happiness with their chosen game.  I just got in a bad mood and posted up something stupid, still I really don't like PW.  I am sure we will all run along now and find games we do like :)

well in generally, i think someone should play pwi only on 2 cases.

    1) if you only want to have fun playing a very nice quest based game, but you will lvl only till lvl 70 max, then it becomes a grindfest and money consuming

    2) If you re a hardcore player , and have infinite ammount of time to spend on this game.

Otherwise you ll just get dissapointed. Also, the world rules makes the game more difficult itself, especially on pvp servers.

There is always a chance that you drop equipment if you have a white name and get killed by a PKer with a red name.

Now imagine what it would be like you get killed by a mass PKer and drop your +5 / +7 HH 70 or even worse HH 80 equipment , that you spent more than a week doing instances and spending money to make them.

On the other hand of course you could play on a PvE server, but there are already all the other things i mentioned..

    its your call

I tried this game out and to be fair its not all that bad for a F2P game. I didn't stick with it very long because it seemed too grindtastic and the combat seemed awkward and slow to respond. As with any pvp oriented game the community is full of e-peen waving kids with no social life. The one thing I found kind of interesting is the way they structure the payments. It is possible to play the game and never spend a dime but you will be at a major disadvantage to the people that spend hundreds of dollars buying every mount and item they can get. Hell you even have to buy credits to use global chat. One thing is that it does eliminate the parasites of the gaming industry who try and sell "gold" through a 3rd party.

The class balance is pretty bad and there is only one tank and one healer class. I tried playing a healer and it sucked bad. Most people lvl solo and only want a healer when they need one the rest of the time your on your own and you die in 2 hits even to a trash mob. Bottom line is unless you have a ton of free time and or a lot of money to spend don't even look at this game.

You only drop iventory items when your name is white or pink, not equiped items.

It's amazing you people don't know that.

In general I agree with the OP but I am a bit more critical of the game:

PWI is an outdated game graphics wise and performance wise. After having played games similar in style (take Aion for example) I tried log back into PWI and I actually felt disgusted. I couldn't imaginge I had spent so much time this game (I had a lvl 72 archer). The toon looked like a little blob and there was lag just trying running around in a field. When I went to the capital the lag was so bad I couldn't move. I have decent gear and have played several more recent AAA MMOs with much less performace issues (Aion, Eve and FE run perfectly on my computer).

Also, I think PWI has one of the worst cash shops ever  ("events" in the form of lotterys for top lvl gear..hmmm). I don't fall for scams like that but many kids play this game and they might not be able to control their impulses to get that virtual awesome thingy.

Quests in PWI are repetitive and boring. If you say well it's standard MMO you haven't tried a high quality game.

Territorial Wars are instanced and you fight in the same laggy arena every time which is kind of strange. Also since combat is not skilled based (auto aim) but gear and class based, it's more of a pay to win thing for cash shop users.

Only good thing in PWI is the social aspect. Since the quests are so simple and boring (world quest hehe) people socialise in order not to be bored to death. Community in general is nice and helpful and there are features in game that encourage grouping across levels (fbs and dailys). Since most people treat the game as some casual fun they tend to have fun, even if the game itself is crap. I'm actually sorry I cant have fun in a crap game like this any longer, it would be like going back to eating baby food or using a toy car instead of a real one. For socializing there are other places on the internetz.

To summarize, PWI is a poor mans outdated grind fest/time sink where you eventually have to pay to level and pay a lot if you want to be competitive in PvP. However, if you use it like social games on Facebook and stay at low levels it might be ok.

lol I bet you're a just typical rage-quitter who likes to lie crap about PWI just because you can't freaking play. xD

    - Yes, skills do cost a lot at higher lvls (like in most MMOs), but after 60, you can start farming TT for mats and sell them (after you got the gear you want) to earn more money. I never had skill problems on my Veno and my Archer (both lvl9x). And using the same 2-3 skills again and again?! Come on, you have to do the same in most MMOs. How many skills do you want? 579?! Then you would whine more they cost toooo much... xDDD

    - It's not hard to lvlup at all. You just don't know how to lvl up, lol. An experienced person can get to lvl80 in a month or less without exp increasers. 1-30: quests, 30+ quests and crazy stone, 40-60 quests BH CS goshiki quest chain, 60-80 quests BH CS WQ PUBLIC QUEST. After 80, things slow down but we still have the dailies, FCC, zhen squads and so on to get nice exp. You only lvl slow if you don't know how to lvl.

    - Die very easily? Fail. My Veno is currently lvl97 and I died... maybe 10 times. Half of it was because of disconnection (my connection sux). The other half because I wasn't paying attention (too much faction chat). Dunno about other classes, but my Veno and Archer die very very rarely. And I don't have epic upgrades, only +3 or +4, lvl90 acrobatic set (Veno) and lvl90 Skywalker set (Archer)... And don't play on PVP server and you won't drop stuff, lol.

    - Why would you buy the best mounts the best wings the best everything?! Of course you have to spend real money if you want all the unnecessary crap. I bought my maxed israfel for 4mil coins. Not the fanciest flyer, but it's fast and cute. :3 Why would I buy a similar speed flyer for like 20mil JUST because it's rare and shiny? Makes no sense to me. It is your fault if you find your items noobish. I personally don't give a sh!t about expensive rare mounts and crap like that. I even saved up for my legendary pet Hercules ingame. It costs about 200 dollars in the cash shop... yet I was able to save up for it ingame! Slower, yes. So? You only have to spend real money if you're freaking impatient. You can buy all cash shop items with ingame coins and you should have enough coins after 60, when you start TTing with friends. Oh and I never use charms on my Veno and Archer... if you have a problem with money why don't you roll a character you can afford??? We all know Clerics are one of the most expensive classes. Pff.

@drsteffo: PWI's graphics are still very good compared to other FREE MMOs. It looks great with the extra antialising option at my graphics card settings, and max settings. I only lag in Archosaur, because it's full of people. If you want to see outdated graphics, play WoW.

Quests in PWI are similar to quests in other F2P games. I played several P2P game trials and the quests were almost the same. I don't get your problem?! Every quests get boring after a while, but still better than grinding.

PWI grindfest? Lmao. You can basically get to 80 without grinding, and after that you can skip grinding and just do dailies and FCC. I never grind and my main is lvl97. You don't know how to get exp.

    I don't know about PVP / TW because I'm a 100% PVE player.

PWI is an entertaining MMO and it does not deserve all this sh!t imo. It has its flaws, but which MMO doesn't? Still, people write unreal things here just because they cannot play. If I can get to lvl97 without spending real money and without soulless grind why can't they?! Because they fail. Because they are impatient and want all the rare fancy sh!t so they run out of ingame coins. Because they wannabe high lvl immediately, even though they *should* know that MMOs are not 1 day games. Fail. :/

I want to reborn as a Sylvari.

All I saw was blah, blah, blah.  Then the same tired thing fans always say, you don't like the game so obviously that means you cannot play it, you suxxors.  Some of us see serious flaws in this game and don't like it.  Some people obviously will love the game.  That is like any other MMO, but saying someone doesn't like a game cause they don't got your madskillz and can't playzzz it so good as you can is just lame.  Every MMO is pretty easy if you get right down to it.

I think I made it to level 65 with a Barbarian before deleting the game from my harddrive.

Grinding mobs took forever when you have to regain more than half your health after each kill.

The community on the US server that I played on seems to be level 70+ and they have no interests in helping those levelling up.

Just forget about about this game if you are not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on the cash shop and bot your way up to the higher levels.

All those memories will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.
