This game is now KO thanks FC EURO SERVER

Ok i can't post on offcialia forum else it will be deleted like usual. Anyway what ppl saw after the last patch? Another changement about game rules at end game.

So you play your char to 80, you level his pvp hard, then suddently you have a total sucking class who can't kill shit. This is what happened to most carnage conq out there.

On the same way another class get overrated, the casters like always. Right now there is the chance to make a level 50 from begin, so on the euro servers there are a mass invasion of casters, i'll let you imaginate how fun it is.

I have a dam question, when the fuck FC will stop to change the game at end every dam patch? My conq is now screwed up, of course he can tanks some mobs but in pvp he can't even kill a level 70 hox, my barb always been sucking, my demon level 60 can kill a war level 70 like nothing, wow that's good.

This is the worse ever game i played for the unbalanced pvp system, just go play some other games and learn from them how to make a pvp game you noobs.

This latest patch was never going to 'fix' the OP nature of casters in AoC because it's not a simple matter of balancing powers or resistances... the basic flaw is that the game requires melee classes to 'hit' their target in combat (hard to do with multi-stage combos against a sprinting, dodging target) while casters auto-hit with their attacks. To truly balance PVP in this game would require going back to the drawing board, which is a great shame because in many other aspects Conan has loads of potential.

Games changing for no reason is bad. But I suppose AoC is "moving" to get better. And has everything... there can be some temporal inconveniences. Or maybe the "new aoc" is not on you liking.   But I don't see as a bad thing.

The game was release withouth some mayor features, If these guys are adding it now, are doing now his work, and I think is a good thing.

The problem isn't really that Funcom is changing the game to make it better. The problem is that it should have been done in beta, but too late for that now.

the game is now ready for release

    you've been paying for beta

really, they've tried to make the game mechanics work before making more endgame content, so all the faithfuls who stuck with it and got to 80 at the beginning are left to wait the longest

I'm on day 5 of trial and I could see myself playing it if it was F2P after purchase.

I play Crysis a lot and am on the servers.  It doesn't cost me anything I just bought the game, log in, and play.

With Age of Conan I would be paying for what?  For them to fix the game to begin with?  I don't think so.  Gonna wait for patch 1.6 and the expansion talk to see if its finally worth giving them money each month (on top of my initial purchase) to play.

Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.

Seems to me that the OP is frustraded with the changes and are chasing the FotM class to play. I see in his list of characters he played to level 80. He has several at the time OP classes.... And now the itempatch has hit live and he feels nerfed to the bone. My advise; get some gear; relearn to pvp with your class. Over many MMOs I have seen that the most OP class is the skillfull player.....

I see on my server(before patch) some of the best pvp players were Barbarian, HoX and bear shaman.

The problem is that NO game should be completely re-worked the way AoC just was...you'd think they would have learned that from SWG.

The main reason I quit AoC when I did was I got sick of every patch nerfing the FUCK out of everything that was fun in the game....especially while bugs that we had been reporting for months in closed beta went ignored.

AoC as a PVP game is DEEPLY flawed....in pretty much the same way that MxO was back after release, where casters are pretty much designed to dominate, and everyone else is just fodder.

I was hoping they would eventually get it right, but it seems that even now the game is doomed to suck.

I hope they realize what they've done with the Soldier archetype and will at least partially fix them on Wednesday.

I think casters should be hard as hell to play...requiring help to about mid-levels. Then gradually approaching max level..it should take 2-3  straight physical melee types to take a wizard down. So..early on:straight melee =3-4 casters....mid levels: = ....max levels : 2-3 Straight melee = 1 caster. This would vary  between the 3 level benchmarks and whether toon is a hybrid .  So mages would need help early...melee types later levels...with a mixture in between levels based on specs , hybrids..etc. It might be a nightmare to code but better than trying to balance everyone with everyone else at each level. Also...real grouping would take place...Depending on levels would determine how many melee vs casters...and extra healers would always be welcome as usually. This might seem jumbled...anyone else understand and think this would benefit group dynamics and the game in general?

Can't see this really working out well in practice. People play for end game, so if word got out that 1 caster at end game could kill 3 melee, most everyone would be a caster, I promise you that.

Gimped the 1st 40 levels than OP'd the 2nd 40? hardly sounds like Balance. They need to require casters to use combo mechanics if the game is ever going stop being labeled the Age of Casters.  I still can't believe they haven't worked on changing what is the most obvious flaw in the design.

My only advise is to stop paying to beta test games, everyone knew this game was not launch ready when they launched it and the diehards kept touting lines like "no mmo is ever truly finished" etc. but this is realy what you get when a game is not ready for launch massive changes and tricks the public just isn't ready for.  Move on until they finally make it f2p.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

  • SabradinSabradin Member Posts: 772

yeah and I can hear the tempt to level 80s that have left

"here, we'll give you a level 50, you can experience some of the stuff we've been working on from 50-80, and hopefully by the time you get to 80 we'll have some new endgame stuff for ya!"

sorry, that is a reasonable move on their part, and i understand their plight (its not the new guy's fault), but its simply not in my interest

it would be charity for me to play, and i dont charity to game companies

Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.

I still can't believe that people are judging the class balance by 1vs1 pvp. It was never meant to be balanced that way.
Only problem with the latest patch is that it affected few popular templates. People are not really prepared to understand classes new mechanics/reworked feat trees and adapt according to the changes (which really improved the game in many areas).

What is the point of having skill trees if only one narrow template is viable?

If the pvp balance is now a rock-paper-scissors model why are teh majority rolling their 'free 50' as casters?

Siege PvP is still dominated by casters.

I never considered it gimped....and its not just casters.  Straight melee and straight casters would  be on opposite sliding scales...being more one on one at mid levels...where a large number of pvp options would be available.. Sure there would be PvP options throughout...but more variety in mid levels. This would lessen  the urgency  of end game...and extend the journey aspect...some people might avoid maxing  out for a while just to do one on ones. I don't know..just ideas.

There should still be all the usual elements and endgame of any mmo but with more importance applied during game as well. Competitions at beginning or end levels would still be balanced...either by exceptional skill ranking or numbers...e.g. a warrior type and hybrid vs straight caster....or ranked 200(arbitrary #) warrior type vs. rank 150 wizard type. Still works the same but just not...completely balanced melee type level 76-80 vs completely balanced caster type level 76-80.

At earlier levels a duel situation against a straight melee would involve a 2 or 3 to one ratio against the caster.(and vice versa...same classes would always be equal..differing only in gear..specs and again modified by rank ).Rank would be determined by several factors that basically equate to player skill. If a warrior level 10 can beat 3-5 casters level 5-9 or one caster level 15-20....and this would be vice versa at the other spectrum for casters...again only one on one somewhere in the middle. Odds would be generated based on all factors with an underdog gaining better rank accumulation for wins. I'm just rambling...sorry. Just something different  than the norm.

Various Hybrid classes would also have sliding scales based on how much melee vs caster that class is..and other factors....so a hybrid can take on a pure melee or caster but not necessarily at the same levels...but awards will still be given  and rankings accrued on an overall scale...all classes will meet in the middle. I know it's a pipe dream....I just think it will allow for fun pvp at various levels...encourage grouping...casters and warrior mixed and matched traveling in teams to avoid gankage and have a good variety of classes/levels on hand depending on the conflict....and promote more alts to experience the differences other than just having the same powers for all classes ..only they're called something else with different hotkey icons.

Oddly enough I am primarily a solo player but I think this would give a great dynamic for constant grouping throughout a game and not just on occasions until the endgame raids. As well as encourage more social interaction on a positive level...hell I might even leave my solo days behind.   Of course this is particularly useful for straight PvP server...but still very useful for PvE server in allowing for constant varying PvP events throughout all levels 1-???.

Just something that does not offer a PvP system that ONLY works with equal numbers at same or 1 level differences.

Finally!! I have been to so many raids where demo drops went to waste, because nobody was playing one.

Although, rolling one and committing to one are two different things. I have heard many necros/demos complaining after the patch. It is people's nature to whine. People hate changes. People do not like adapting.

Still, skilled player is able to do wonders with any class, in aoc. It is not classes, that give you advantage over others.

  • crunchyblackcrunchyblack Member Posts: 1,362

I was actually excited to have to figure out my class again, and mess with the very low cost feat resets.  This is a big part of why mmorpgs are fun, having to figure out what works best.

So now the equipments bonus stats work diffrently, its not as ambiguous as before.  Your main stats like int and str have a trickle down effect on other stats.  It makes things more interesting.

But they ruined the game because you know have to take a few days and try and figure out what works best now, or reroll because its only going to take you a week or two to powerlevel back to 80.....less if you got that free character.

the mechanics are the same, the strategy is diffrent......

Welcome to MMORPG... if you don't like changes, go play single player rpg game.

Almost all mmorpgs out there do changes, tweaks, big patch changes from time to time... if you couldn't take it, that simply means you are not meant for MMORPG.

You took the words right out of my mouth.  Conan has lost the last bit of fun it had to offer, game-play is now Monotonous, senseless and extremely dull.

The official forums are now a waste of time as any posts not giving the game praise is quickly locked or edited and it reminds me of the first few fascist months after release.

How they still have the cheek to charge people a monthly fee for this rubbish is beyond me.

You yourself paid to play for 1 year did you not mate? So the game held you for one year. Everyone is different in terms of leveling and enjoyment gained. Right before release remember they did say they made content for 9 months of play for the average 20hr a week player. During those first 9 months and right up till now, more has been added in. I am thinking hence the extra 3 you played and including just as many quests as other games.

If you felt the game not worth your time after one year then fair enough, you still paid to play for one year and spoke with your wallet, one would assume would be worthy of paying.

Anyone to the game now starts off from now and with things being added in, in large doses 1 year from now might be longer for mr average player.

Odd than that almost everyone I knew who was playing at release hit the level cap in under 3 weeks, and we didn't play much more than 20 hrs/wk. Most of us had another 2-3 toons around 70 by our 2nd month.

Guess it's one more of the many things FunCom claimed before release that turned out to be a massive exaggeration or an out right  fabrication.

You know that whole list Avery, no need for me to type it out again.

No need to side step the fact that the fella paid to play for one whole year on this server, and then he moves on.

Some people like the power leve, Some like to experience the whole content the game has to offer or some parts that just interests them.

I'd like to point out too that there is a reason Fury server transfers are not available at this time.

Playing around with figures on YG:

    Levels: 70-80         People:  6649

    Levels: 50-60         People:  1158

    Levels: 20-50         People:   7217

    levels:   1-20           People:   19580

    Levels 1-80            33762 results

PvP rankings list:  Displaying players updated within 30 days     11250 results

    The numbers don't lie.

Not to mention the top 4 choices of class on this server out of everyone are not Casters.
