Well....I have only played the classes 1- 8 for the most part. However seeing videos and how the classes play I have a very very good idea of how my class will be end game.
Most Favorite: I will make each of these classes until max guranteed:
Chanter - Assasin - Gladiator - Sorcerer - Ranger
Least Favorite: Im still waiting to see how these do with 1.5:
Cleric - Templar - Spirit Master
Trying out the ranger this beta weekend and probably the gladiator and maybe the chanter if I have enough time. I already know what the sorcerer will play like given the 1-10 tutorial. i get the basic gist of it. I plan on making a Sorcerer at launch, unless the other classes I try become zomg.
*EDIT*
I forgot to list why LOL, whoooooooops.
I have always been a fan of mage type classes, usually ones with pets. However Im not feeling the Spirit Master not sure why. so yeah always prefered ranged dps, however I do get the urge to get right into someones face which is why im playing the Glad and Sin. As for the chanter I like playing support sometimes which is why im going to have a type of healer. lol Im a WoW Druid at heart which is why my playstyle is stretched through a few classes. Primarily my main will be a DPS class probably the Sorcerer.
So far, I've only played to 10 as a Gladiator and to level 8 as a mage. I feel the Gladiator is very tough, but kills extremely slow compard to the mage. The mage was killing quest mobs before they even got to her, and I like her utilities.
So, at the moment, I'm choosing the mage class as my fav. Not sure how the playability changes at 10 though with your 2 choices. Guess I'll try to figure that out this weekend.:)
I played a spiritmaster until level 17 and it was both fun and powerful - in fact, nobody could beat me in a duel. However, from my reading of players' experiences playing spiritmasters on the Asian servers, they become very underpowered at the higher levels, and there are virtually no high ranking abyss spiritmasters. If it weren't for this, i'd be rolling SM for sure come release.
I also played a sorceror to 12, although obviously, I can't say much for that as I only played 2 levels into the class speciality. But from the PvP videos i've seen, sorcerors are pure ownage if played correctly and are probably the best pvp class - so i'll probably say this is my fave class.
In two hours I'll be into the beta for the first time so as I don't know which one my favorite is, I will say that the first character I make will be a spiritmaster.
This is actually the ONLY problem I have with Aion, when I say ONLY I mean the only problem that I am not able to get past. Unlike the forced PvP / PK there are ways around that, or ways to have friends group up and keep each other some what safe. There is no way around the classes you can choose in the game. I don't really love any of them. I "sorta" like the cleric but its not something that I am really looking forward to. If there is one reason why I decide in the end that Aion is not for me, it wont be the PvP, or any other of the games features, but the facts the classes feel very generic and typical of mmorpg games.
Guild wars I play Ritualist, Dervish, Paragon, 3 non typical classes.
FFXI- Dragoon, Dancer, Corsair, Beastmaster Again 3 non typical mmorpg classes. Once some what typical - And for the record, YES I did play FFXI since 2003, and YES I did only have 2 jobs at lvl 75 until around 2006 because I didn't like any other jobs except dragoon at that point. (Until ToAU expansion).
Aion just feels way to predictable when it comes to classes. Its really the only thing giving me as a huge fan a reality check on aion so that I don't all taken in by the "New game" glow. Basically keeping me from being one of the "OMFG I LOVE THIS GAME" players, which I think is a good thing.
It comes down to "Do you like more of the game than you dislike" and my answer is a very solid yes. The problem here is when the thing you don't like is something as critical as the classes in the game, that can cause problems at high or mid levels. It gets to a point where you may love what you do in the game, but if you hate who you do it with its no longer that enjoyable. Hopefully my dislike for the current classes will not turn to hate after I play classes I don't enjoy for months at a time. Although Im almost sure it will. I will probably quit 2-4 months after the game comes out, once I reach max level with 1 class, then wait for an expansion to come out that adds more classes.
I really like the ranger i've played so far and i think ill roll one for retail. It starts off slow but the class's damage get better after level 16. The class involves alot of kiting and skill to play correctly and that challenge appeals to me. With stealth, traps, snares, high burst damage i think they will alot of fun solo/group ganking in PvP
I fell in love with the spiritmaster. Awesome DP spell (1o minutes) and I cut through mobs like butter. I don't see many people rolling SM (lots of micromanaging, I love that) so that makes me want to be one even more hehe.
Personally, I've only played warrior, and only up to Gladiator. Having fun with him so far. I can take up to two or three enemies at similar levels, but throw a priest my way? Oooo look out. Its fun then, taking down 6-7 guys at once heh
And off-topic, but Nb, that avatar looks like somethin from Lunar silver star story complete heh
<> And off-topic, but Nb, that avatar looks like somethin from Lunar silver star story complete heh
Going off-topic for a sec too: yes, it's my favorite RPG game of all time! Althena
Heh, knew that arse looked familiar! And indeed, it was a great game, one of the top 5 PS1s to me, and still easily in the top ten all time.
back on topic, I've been wanting to try Spirit master too, but been content watching my friend play his, once he got his spirit he tore through monsters pretty easily, and its interesting to see that their looks changed as you got stronger versions of them. I really want to see the race specific ones though, specially the Asmodian Fire-earth hybrid.
ranger hated it the most i don't know if it's a bug but when hovering to shoot npc with a bow they would vanish and pop back with full hp so i hope this is a bug and gets fixed
and did not get a good chance to really test out the sorcerer before the servers were shut off
i played all starter class to lvl 10 in about 2 1/2 hours to 3 hours all solo and then played them to about lvl 14-15 only got sorcerer to 11 by the end

Made a Mage, Scout, and Warrior.
Like the scout most. Although when you miss your opening shot you tend to get destroyed.

Probably in this order: Assassin >= Mage >> Cleric >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gladiator
I would have tried Ranger as well, but I ran out of time.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
I have tryed :
spiritmaster i like
templar i like
chanter i really like
