My MMO experience

When WAR came out there was a lot of hate on the boards. I defended WAR because I was having fun playing it. I loved the public quests, thought the graphics were pretty good and the games performance was o.k. Fans of the game were getting flamed, not as bad as Darkfall, but was pretty bad.

When I play an mmo, I really like the leveling up part. I like to see the sites, make a few friends, see some kewl monsters, and learn a new class. It's not usually about end game for me. So, WAR seemed pretty fun and exciting while I was leveling up.

When I got to end game the honeymoon was over. O.K., I mis-spoke because there was really NO endgame, atleast when I was playing. It was at this point that I stopped playing and defending WAR on the boards.

This is my take on any mmo I play. I will defend, when flamed, and play it as long as I'm having fun. SWG, EQII, and LOTR are other examples. SWG was pretty much sandbox, so no end game was expected. I loved and defended it against the nay sayers untill the SONY f*ck up. EQII and LOTR were fun untill I got bored  running the same instances over and over and over again. I thought the end game for these 2 mmo's was a lil' weak.

I will have the same attitude towards Aion. That is to say an OPEN attitude. I love the graphics style. If you don't that's a different story. The rest of it seems to be MOSTLY your standard mmo fair. Even so, I can't wait to see the sites, meet some friends, and keel some kewl monsters. The ride is half the fun people. If I get to end game, and it gets stale, then the fun will end, and it's on to something new.

Point is people. Give it a try. I mean, how can you bash something you don't know much about. Even if you played cb1 and you're level 20, you still don't know enough about the WHOLE game to pass judgement.

Trolls will be trolls, so....anyway, I'm bored at work, so forgive me.

yea I understand how you feel. you didn't mention the burn in the pocket book when the game is fun until its over. I remember when games were so fun, we beat them over and over again, each time discovering something new and fun ways to get to the end. My new mmo experience is to enjoy each class, and its levels, because if I get to end game and feel the game is not worth beating again, or enjoying my super powered character in my save game :) Then at least I didn't race to bordom :). Remember when games "flipped" banking on you beating the game giving you the same game but with harder objectives lol cmon. We won't be forever sold on the concept of mmo "shelf life" and the phrase "end game".
