Here is my opinion, the easiest way to compare Aion with wow flying is Druid's flight form (insta cast). For me Aion flight feels alot better though, you actually feel your character is flying not a turpedo, gliding adds alot to the feeling as well (especially if you turn while gliding). Aion flying system can be used in combat and you are able to fight as well, certain skills actually require you to fly.

Finally the flying stamina just makes it more interesting to me and makes it more exciting. Again these are all personal opinions.

I think the difference between this and WoW, is atmosphere, and sheer options. In WoW I can choose 6 different starting areas which have a great feel to each. In Aion, I get 2 choices.

For those who say get to the pvp aspect, that's what the game is about, I think it's sad that I have to get to level 25 to do so. WAR starts me off at level 1. WoW starts me off at level 10 for the most part.

The difference between WAR , WoW and Aion is that for Aion the PvP is not arena or battleground based: It is open world with an element of suprise.  If you accept duels/arena play as PvP for Aion, those also start at level 1 although there are never rewards for it.  (Most interesting use of an arena I've seen to date: A nice, friendly game of soccer.)

From a storyline perspective, it wouldn't particularly make sense for the two starter areas to be open PvP.  Its also not a sound business model to have players get jumped while they're still learning how to move about the world.  The next ten levels are learning how to play your class.  The levels where open world PvP starts to become a possibility occur right after the ones where you are tasked with a number of things that require a fairly decently coordinated group and where, hopefully, you now know people you can call on for help.  (The classes also aren't especially balanced at the beginning of the game.)

The abysss doesn't open up until 25 but since its shared by all levels, whats the point of encouraging level 8 players to go in there and get one shot?  There's also a finite amount of room for PvE content there.

I understand what the OP is saying and I agree.

When I did WoW 1-10 for the first time it was simply amazing. I leveled dozens of characters before burning out on lowbie leveling and maxed my first one out.

Years later I can't stand WoW 1-10. I hate leveling. I hate the PvE.

Aion isn't much different from WoW. PvE is pretty similar and therefor equally loathsome.

Aion's PvP is suppose to be much better and is what is keeping me interested in Aion. The character skills and equipment were designed with PvP in mind and the Abyss is kind of like DAoC's frontiers.

Looking forward to the Abyss weekend.

I don't find flight cumbersome at all. I just hold the right button and steer in the desired direction while using the WASD keys. if you don't do this then yes I would agree, that would be cumbersome.

The flight in AIon is a pvp tool and not to travel.

After 4 years of WoW I think I would have felt the similarity. Sadly, it's not there. Maybe it's that whole having to hit the space bar twice that throws it off. Either way, the controls for flying in Aion, FOR ME, suck.

the double space bar only lets you glide not fly. and if you're flying and hit the space bar you glide.

It is excactly like WoW for flying, you are talking about gliding..not the samething.

I also played WoW for a long time and can tell you now that flying in both games are the same, you push a button to get your wings/mount(all can be changed in key binding's).you can then hold down the right mouse button and use you direction controls. If you cant see this then either you have not taken the time to change your controls or you are indeed talking about gliding and not flying, either way you are wrong about the flying controls not being the same.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"
