Which prop 8 are they for? I mean, they are all black and the california prop 8 is for gays/lesbians so it all seems weird.

It's the fact that one segment of society that has a history of being discrimintaed against and rights reserved, don't acknowledge that they are doing the same thing to another segment of the population.

The extent isn't what's being debated, discrimination remains the core issue.
Also, being gay is a little bit easier to hide than being black. I'm sure gays would have fought the same battles throughout history if you could identify homosexuality on sight.

Having laws that bans interracial marriage or marriage between black people is almost unthinkable nowadays, but having gay marriage banned is normal.

I remember when that passed, and most of the media around here was saying that it WAS the African-American community who's votes swayed the results. The majority of them were overwhelmingly against it.
I find it kind of odd that a group who has been discriminiaterd against for so long, would turn around and do the exact same thing to another group who just want equal rights.
That was not the point. The fact that there is any kind of discrimination at all is wrong. And it seems that a group that was discriminated against as much as blacks are/were would be willing to fight for and acknowledge the civil rights of others. No matter what level of discrimination they are facing.
I wonder though, how many states at this time have laws on the books protecting blacks. And how many of those states also add the protection for gays as well. That might be one measure of discrimination you care to visit.
But the fact is that this discriminatory behavior is something in human nature that constantly needs to be in check. And it is up to us as a people to do that auditing. It's just apparent that at times some people need to be reminded about the whole thing, obviously no matter what their history is.

Now days, everything is ok and nothing is wrong. We have lowered / redefined our standards to incorporate everything that our country is today.
It will be interesting to see how far it all goes. Soon we will have pologamy once all the states let gays marry. But the US has long been against pologamy and was once against gay marriage.
Nothing is sacred anymore. People like to say we are bigoted and discriminate and are hateful when they want something that the country believes differently. People often forget that the majority voted and said no, yet each one of the is discriminating, hateful people that are simply closed minded. The 'screw your belief, mine is better' attitude will eventually destroy our country because we will stand for nothing and accept everything.

This is far from the truth. Everything is ok and nothing is wrong? I don't know anybody who thinks that way. But Homosexuality is not something thats wrong, and neither is gay marriage.
Nobody forgot that the majority voted No, but what did they really vote against?
Were they asked to do something?
Were they asked to sacrifice anything?
Were they asked to change their lives in any way?
The answer is No to all of that. The majority voted No, but what really happens is that a majority is oppressing a minority.
I think it's interesting that you say "Screw your belief, mine is better" will destroy your country, considering it's the anti gay marriage crowd that is saying "Screw your belief, mine is better". They are the ones that believe their belief should be enforced on everybody else.
I have never seen a gay person demand you should only marry a member of the same sex.
If you're saying we shouldn't accept everything, that's fine, I agree with that. But you better have a darn good reason not to accept something to the point you want it banned.
The people in the picture were discriminated for something that shouldn't be considered a negative aspect of a human being and something they have no control over. Homosexuality is no different.
There is no such thing anymore, in the United States, as the sanctity of marriage. Over 65% of marriages fail nowadays.
And of course they had different standards in 1776, but it's not 1776 anymore. Times change, people change and laws change. I fail to see how polygamy will come out of gay people being allowed to marry each other, but if polygamy DID become legal...who cares? If some women are dumb enough to want to marry a guy with 3 wives, how does that affect you?
And meanwhile, we have political figures like Clinton and Sanford cheating on their wives. Cheating on your spouse does much more damage to the sanctity of marriage than gay marriage could ever do.
I honestly believe the whole issue of this boils down to what it says in the Bible. The Bible said homosexuality was a sin, but the Bible ALSO said that adulterers get stoned to death. So how can you believe in one thing the Bible says, and not another?
You know, there was a time not so long ago when people didn't need a license to get married. They just did it. Look into where Marriage Licences come from and you'll find that they were originally for interracial marriages after abolition of slavery. Today they are just for getting a specific tax break.
Nobody can stop you from getting married, regardless of who or what you wish to marry. Just don't expect a check in the mail.

That's the worse thing that you think can happen? Polygamy? Who cares about polygamy? And here's an idea for you... if you think polygamy is bad then don't marry more than one wife. Or would you rather raid a group of people, make them out to be all bad, and then find out that the whole thing was a mistake like what happened in Texas a while back? But you know, those people are eeeeevil and they are doing something that I think is wrong. Therefore, we should totally disrespect their beliefs and use the big federal government goons to raid them. Ooops, made a mistake??? And here's what I say to the "country thinking different". I am a part of this country just as much as you are. I am an American citizen and the Constitution and Bill of Rights promises that I will be treated equally by the federal government and my rights and liberties will be protected. NOT taken away from me by a majority mob!
If you don't agree with that, then you are hateful. You're hateful for wanting to deny American citizens their rights and abilities to make decisions for themselves. <mod edit>I believe that our founding documents more than make it clear that freedom, liberty, and equal representation under the law are afforded to ALL American citizens. Not just a majority. And I also find it quite clear that our laws are setup on the federal level to protect the minority in this country from the majority. Otherwise they made up a whole lot of other words to describe the opposite of that, like tyranny and mob rule.
If someone is not skilled enough to understand that or they do not care enough to go find out how this country is intended to work and would instead put their own personal desires ahead of those founding documents, then I consider them a moron. Because I cannot for the life of me imagine someone really wanting to take someone else's freedom away. Unless of course, they are a really big fat goober headed moron.

Black people are mostly religous and its against the laws of their religious beliefs to support. Thats mainly why. To support it and be politically correct flies in the face of what is expected of them by their Faith.
I think there is a disconnect when discrimination is used for race vs type.
