Paul B nolonger at Mythic?

Good friend of mine who works for GW in Nottinghamshire told me earlier that Paul B has been recalled to the UK permanently, does this mean that EA is getting ready to Earth and Beyond WAR?

There is no way GW will just let them shut war down I have been told this time and time again by GW folks….so who will get it? SOE?  Turbine? The future looks grim.

PB isn't a Mythic employee. He is an EA employee. They are using him more as a talking head for their other mmo titles.

I assume that GW require a fairly heft chunk of cash per month over liscening fees, probably that is why Mark Jacobs said they needed over 200lk players to make it a success as they had to service loans, pay wages and pay Games Workshop.

Wouldn't surprise me if bioware has gone in looked at the WAR code, tutted a few times, said "what cowboy done that then?" and then told EA that there is no way that they are going to be able to fix it.

if WAR does not get it's act together fast I can see EA pulling it by Q4 this year.

Who knows perhaps bioware can then pick up the IP then?

Paul Barnett isn't a real coder or developer.

He doesn't even really do anything around there but comedy relief and musal inspiration, lol. He's the Billy Mays of the industry; he's a pitchman, and he's very good at doing that. He believes in the old expression "There is no such thing as bad press" and continues to try and prove it at every turn. I actually respect him more than anyone who walked around there. He will embarass hisself to no end just to sell a few more copies. Mythic/GW/EA told him to sell the game and he did. They didn't tell him to make the game.

GW won't let EA shut WAR down? Hmmm.. I didn't know GW controlled EA in that fashion, lol. I don't think it has anything to do with what GW wants at all.

If AION steals 100k subscriptions from WAR, this game is kaput. If that happens, it won't be around in January. It will be pulling in far too little money to be viable and other games will be out as well. As Will Smith said in Men In Black II, who wants to drive "the ol' busted jaun'" when they could be driving "the new hotness". (whatever a 'jaun' is)

And there is no way SOE, Turbine or anyone else wants this game nor anyway EA would sell it. They'd close it as a tax writeoff for the 2010 year rather than sell it for less.
