Wait, wasn't one of the biggest Anti-WoW gripes used by the Anti-wow fanbois that WoW did nothing new? Why does Aion have to be innovative and groundbreaking to be the next WoW?

Dont know and dont care, I already ordered Collectors edition of Aion :-)

I also have ordered the Collectors Edition and am willing to play it for 30 days and will wait and see if i resub.

Yes that sounds like a good idea, but I will play to max level then form an opinion. See you there :-)

Not really. Few people played Morrowind because of teh alien-ske settings, more people played Oblivium because it was generic european medieval fantasy. The fu*** devs admited that point (you can google for it, is true). That was intended. If you want to lose some gamers, make your game withouth recognozible races (human? elf?). It seems there are people that need something "familiar" to play it.

There are lots of different worlds. I know because I like to read these books, comics, etc.. we are going for this "generic european fantasy" because is easy, easy to fill quota, easy to create, easy to consume, etc.. If you make a original game, It will be niche from the start.

two weekends really is nt enough time to get that far into the game . what level did the op get too ? the starting areas in any mmo will on offer very simple quests . you dont want to confuse a player whose just started with too much information at such an early stage when they are concentraion on learning how to play their character . its only in later levels you ll be able to tell if a game is groundbreaking or not . lets face if even in warcraft you never got to the interesting content until you d hit level 20-30 . these days because of faster leveling you its hard to find groups to do any  of the mid level instances so the game really ends being a solo grind for the most part untill you hit level 60 . thus far i so no legitimate problems with aion all you can expect at this stage is to see what it looks like graphically and how smoothly it plays you cant make any real assumptions about the gameplay .

when you ve played a couple of weeks or more on an english speaking server ( if thats your first language ) then you may be able to offer some real opinions about its content .

I was in cb3 and it isnt anything ground breaking thats true but they never said it would be, i only got to lvl 17 i started playing friday and saturday didnt play sunday cause the lagg spikes kept killing me so i never noticed a grind at all , there didnt seem to be alot of skills , i was lvl 17 on my chanter and only using like 2 attacks on opened 2 more attacks , this doesnt include my 6 or so buff's. Its good tho and il be playing at release. Mainly because i didnt release it was a " PRE PURCHASE" of plaync and no a pre order . Enjoying it so far tho , Anoying that we are playing 1.0 when 1.5 is out

Ehh, there is hype but I don't think there is a ton of hype compared to some past releases.  No one remembers 2004 and how much hype there was for WoW.  I remember when Blizzard announced the whole concept of rested xp and the message boards exploded.

Honestly, if Aion draws a million subscribers in NA, I'll be very surprised.

I got my chanter to level 20, after I got my Templar to level 20. I was in CB1, and there was no lag or lagspikes then. But In CB3 there was alot on Saturday. But on monday it was better, but then it was over. Hope CB4 will be less spikes. We had some nice pvp battles on Friday it was fun, we where 25 vs 20-30 people and hardly any lag. I am still wondering why the lagspikes came.

Still not sure what all the hype is about.  It's really nothing groundbreaking or earth shattering.  Graphics & Effects are decent.  Beyond that it's pretty standard Class/Level grind fare with nothing all that impressive to recommend it.  There are F2P's that are better and more innovative (Runes of Magic is actually more fun).
It's decent enough but I wouldn't pay a monthly for it.

It isn't for you, move along, move along, move along, nothing to see here.
