Update: Extended Server Maintenance

Merging the two downtimes into a single, long downtime. My bet would be OB signup is available when servers are back online. Hopefully the OB will start soon after... be nice to play the OB over the weekend. image

Update: Extended Server Maintenance - Caydiem on 10/14/04

The World of Warcraft closed beta servers will be coming down for scheduled maintenance on Thursday, October 14 through Friday, October 15. On Thursday, the downtime will begin at 10:00AM PDT and will continue through the day and into Friday. The maintenance should be completed at approximately 6:00PM PDT on Friday evening. We deeply apologize for the extended downtime. Thank you very much for continuing to bear with us as we craft the best game we possibly can -- your help is always appreciated!

    Best guess is that they are going to wait till at least Monday if this is in fact a positioning for OB signups. This gives them the weekend to test and fix any issues.

    My guess...

    We'll be able to "sign up" for open beta when all this server stuff is gone. They'll probably wait until monday to start sending out keys. Monday if we're lucky. Just because this is "open" beta doesn't necessarily mean anyone can play, right? Seems like there are sooooo many people waiting to play this game. I'll consider myself extremely lucky if I actually get to play. Like the guy above me said... "that's just the pessimist in me". You can't help but be one when it comes to Blizzard.

    Open beta as opposite to closed beta means you automatically get accepted once you have signed up for it...

    I have to agree, it seems like they are gearing up for open beta sign ups.  What would be smart is to have the sign ups and offer the beta client for download on fileplanet and bittorrent, and then wait a week before starting the open beta. 

    But what is more exciting is if they do start open beta in a couple weeks, they will still be on course for a Nov. 16 release.

    No, Everyone who wants to play open beta will be able to as one of the blizzard people said i think it was Tyren or w/e he said Of course we are holding sign ups we want to know who is playing the game and how to contact them.

    I don't actually think there will be signups for Open Beta. As many people will have surely notice, in the newwest patch they added a new icon for account creation in the game main screen. This means that they will only requiere you to download the game and create your account. This could explain the web maintenance beacuse they may be preparing for the people to download the client.

    That icon brings you to the signup webpage........................................And as GMs said on the forums there will be signups o/
